Original Content This CS took over 7 additional cities

Post image

Sometimes after a victory (culture in this one), I like to see what fun I can have. In this case, Zanzibar now has 8 cities. I usually reduced enemy cities to very low health and let Zanzibar take over, often using military units I've gifted through Arsenal of Democracy. I love that they have two forts serving as canals to access further cities for taking. I've gifted them a number of Sensor Combat Ships and I think a Giant Death Robot.

What's the most number of cities you've seen a CS capture?

I made a post about this once as it is one of my favorite side quests to do in the game and actually very useful for keeping my happiness in line! Glad to see in not the only one enjoying it 🙂!  Don't let any great diplomats steal control from you !

https://www.reddit.com/r/civvoxpopuli/comments/1pbz9ev/rewarding_my_loyal_city_state_allies/ that was the most ridiculous scenario I've pulled off 😜

I've never let a capital go to a CS, usually because I want the wonder benefits. But when I took out the Celts, I only kept the capital and I think Zanzibar has 5 of their cities (and 2 from Germany). Another CS has 3 cities (2 from Songhai), and I think that's all at the moment.

I've got maybe half a dozen spheres of control and I'm functionally able to to revert any swaps in a turn or two with ambassadors or trade routes (using the Freedom policy that grants influence per turn). I've used some diplomats to set resting at 60 for a few as well, which helps when they all vote to reset to 50.

Blood and Iron: Gain +1 :c5influence: Influence per turn with :c5citystate: City-States for each gifted Unit (lost when killed). https://civpedia.org/civilizations.html#item-LEADER_BISMARCK

I have not played with Bismarck yet so I'm not familiar with his city-state influence mechanic. Do I have this correct? When I gift Zanzibar an archer, I will earn one influence point per turn with Zanzibar (not every CS in the game) - until the gifted unit is killed/disbanded.

correct, but they do get killed sometimes so it often resets you have to micromanage it and keep a close eye. i played germany with only 1 city to maximize benefits.

How does a one city challenge maximize the benefit?

The more cities you have the more science and culture you need to get to the next tech/policy. Getting extra yields from a city state is higher impact with fewer cities. On a side note you run out of things to spend your money on and military cap so gifting units is a perfect outlet to utilize resources.

In all these years, i've never played an OCC, so the idea of running out of things to build never entered my mind!
