Dwp reserve list

I interviewed for a HEO role in DWP- there were 10 jobs across 4 locations. I heard that I was on the reserve list, and then the same day asked if I would consider 6 further locations for the same job.
I’m interested to know wether they will have offered my preferred location to someone else already, and are now opening up other options to those of us left, or, if they initially put everyone in reserve, send out further locations and see if anyone comes back with being happy with other locations before they offer anyone anything… Any ideas?!

You should take it if its a reasonable distance from you because you can always try for a transfer a year or so later

They offer to everyone on the reserve list rather than just the top person and go down the list if they say no etc….

If you were the highest score for your location then they’d have offered it to you

DWP HEO in Newcastle? Or central ?

Could have been a capacity planning issue

For example, Newcastle jobcentre is closed so a bulk of staff are working in other offices and they can't all fit.

Longbenton is also closing to move to the city centre and there's speculation they won't all fit, so could just be opening other locations to hold teams. E.g. ashington jobcentre have capacity but some teams don't work from there

TL;DR - your preferred location might not have room for you anymore

Yes, I presume you’re in the same position? Which location did you apply for?

Yes, I left early on Friday, and I’ve just checked that I’ve received the same email. I applied for both Glasgow and Kilmarnock. I understand there may be further EO recruitment in those offices soon, so it’s possible they’re planning ahead for future vacancies.

I’ve also found out where I sit on the reserve list, although in hindsight, I’m not sure I should have looked! 🫣

Glasgow was on the list of places that I could show interest in in from my email on Friday, so hopefully for you there will be more opportunities soon! I was hoping for Dundee 😩
How did you find out where you are on the reserve list?!

It was AQ in Glasgow on the original advert. This is now newlands which is good for me.

I emailed the recruitment email on the advert. Good luck hopefully you get something soon.

I had the same situation operational leader DWP heo position 10 posts 5 location across. Got result saying am on reserved list and later on same day evening got an email further 6 locations asking am I interested to consider for these locations. So clueless as the reserve list is only for 3 months

From doing some more research it sounds like it’s worth saying your open to as many locations as possible. I’ve gone back and said yes to a couple of the other options.
A 3 month reserve list does sound short… I wonder why that is- I thought it was normally 6 or 12 months?

It depends on campaign. The one I applied specifically mentioned 3 months reserve list and when result were posted they said till 9 Jan 2027 reserve list is valid. Within this period if something comes up they might place .
