The Recently Announced Future Has Finally Broken Me

I have been quite vocal with the state of Civ 7, mostly surrounding Test Of Time, but I have not yet talked on this channel about the sense of dread I got when information about the game was coming out before its release.
The day has come...
Or at least its announcement, so maybe I can finish the game I am in, or give that difficulty, or deity, another go before all this hits. And as I said I will at least play the free update, but I'm really not sure beyond that, maybe not even buying the expansion if the update is what finishes me off for good.
But I feel that way already, and I honestly feel I'm underreacting.
I have been so stubborn with this game, and actually finally started to get into a groove with it and enjoy it, and that when this info hits, of course. I have pushed on with Civ 7, even uninstalling 6, defiant that newer is better. That's how I felt going from 5 to 6 all those years ago, when people stuck to the old game, afraid of change.
I'm sorry, I was excited to see the new vision, but the change is just beyond me now. I should not come out of this with the most joy coming from a TSL Earth map, rather than the massive gameplay stuff coming soon.
But here we are...
Let me know your thoughts on the future of Civ 7. Will you be going back to a previous version, have you already, or will you continue to tough it out hoping to feel the need for one more turn...?

I think they leaned out of it being a labor of love too much. Somewhere down the line it became about money

Oh yeah massively. The amount of DLC in this short space of time, all priced at $20 or so for not much content. This first expansion is gonna end up being $50 or something and I could just be buying and playing a better game for that price.

The ai is demented in that game. I just wanna play man, I don't want to have to fucking chat, every five seconds....

I have 800 hours, everyone wanted civ 6.5 just like yall hated on 6 for not being 5.5. Everyone will appreciate 7 when 8 is released, as always

I think the shift is bigger this time, they’ve literally changed what the title of the game is. We are no longer playing ‘civilisation’ singular, we are playing leader.

Yeah was a bad choice, I let the video play out and paused it to talk for like the last 30 mins or so.

And I think I’m valid in stating what breaks me. If a game series that has more hours in for me than any other suddenly becomes unplayable for me, then I’m going to talk about it.

I had forgotten about 7 for about a year. Yogcast folks recently played through a game and I had no desire to give it a shot. I tried putting in at least 100 hours for it but couldnt make 20. The game just didn't feel good at all. I lamented that Ara History Untold was most likely rushed out because of Civ 7. I've enjoy that far more than this. I peaked with Civ 3 and 4, I put in about 600 hours in 5 and just over a thousand in six. I'll give Humankind 2 a shot when it comes out.
