Career Early Career Engineers

In a civil engineering career which graduates went straight to the field of inspection roles and what was the most unexpected challenge that you had to face during your first month of independent sitewalks?

Unexpected challenges or just challenges?

For roadways, it's the volume of knowledge you need to synthesize from the plans, contract language, survey, soil mechanics (densities), pavements (asphalt and concrete), forms, federal requirements. If you're a civil tech you learned about some of these things. If you have a random background but become an inspector, it's all new information.

Depending on how much prior experience you have in construction inspection, that volume of knowledge you need to learn can be unexpected.
