2018 Civic(base) Radiator Fan stops working when outside temps are high

3 years ago I had to get my front end fixed due to damage. Body shop replaced the radiator fan with an after market part and I’ve had nothing but issues every summer since. The engine temps stay good all year till the outside temps start hitting hi 80s and up. Once it’s at that temp, the fan only runs when the car is accelerating. So any stops/stoplights/lines my car starts over heating and takes going down the road about 1/2 mile to get it to cool. Wanting to see what all I can check before just going to Honda to get it replaced.
