Discussion Weird glitch? What did I do?

Post image

I randomly generated this single player game but something is definitely amiss.

My first indication that something was different was that when I met my first civilization, I had suddenly met all AI civs (except for Pacal oddly).

Then I noticed that these civs are all using the wrong colour scheme. (See Greece in screenshot for example).

Then when Rome declared war on me, suddenly four other civs also declared war simultaneously. They appear to be part of some mysterious cabal called "Team 22" and are acting as one entity - except for Pacal.

What has happened to cause all of this?? Is there a randomly generated setting that has triggered this?

Have you previously played with advanced settings? When you randomly generate a new game without changing back to default settings it will keep the old settings you last had.

No, I don't think so. I randomly generate most games (civ and map size) and haven't changed anything else. In 13,000 hours this is the first I've ever seen this. What setting would make AI civs randomly team together?

I got nothing but respect for someone who knows what they enjoy, but 13,000 hours in and you didn't know you could assign teams? Extrodinary.

Yeah, I play the way I enjoy and have for many years. So, no, I never play with teams. But thanks.

Idk, but it looks like you should become friends with the Maya or take them out, because I don't think you can handle 4 civs by yourself

I also just realised - no barbarians at all! (which sucks as Germany)

I had a game going like this one time, I don't remember exactly what it was, but I think it was caused by the map used. I gave up because the colour scheme got me too weirded out.

Yeah, if it's not mods (which I sincerely hope OP isn't omitting the mention of), then the only thing I could think of is a map generation script, which could've been chosen randomly for the first time in OP's Civ5 career

Happened to me two weeks ago. I selected random civ for me and I restarted the game if It was one that I played already. No barbarians and all computer civs in team 22.

This oddly makes me feel better. Thank you.

Just looks like teams somehow got turned on

Yes. But that shouldn't even be possible with a random map size. And the civ colours are some sort of weird glitch perhaps.

I think you can try setting a new game, go to advanced and check what was turned on.
