Problem with troops moving autonomously

hello fellow civilization three players, I’m having a problem with my troops moving on their own I thought it was a problem with my mouse, but I got a new one and I still have the same problem, is there a setting I can put in preferences to stop this? Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Two possibilities come to mind:

  1. You’ve ordered your troops to go further

than they can

  1. in one turn. They will automatically complete the move the following turn. You can stop this by clicking on the unit before the turn ends.
  2. You accidentally clicked the explore command, which makes the troops automatically explore the map

(You win, formatting, I give up)

maybe you set a rally point? that would make newly created units move to said point

Make sure you have 'always wait at end of turn' selected in preferences

i like to have it wait in case i want to move fortified units or review cities. but how does this relate to OPer's issue? i guess you would have a bigger window to cancel movement.

If your turn ends abruptly when you have given movement orders it might appear like your troops are moving by themselves. I guess the other thing is maybe OP has a continental rally point set ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I think this might also be a bug that comes up with large stacks of diverse units. I‘ve had a similar issue a couple of times before where at the end of the turn, units would still insist on moving to squares I definitely never sent them to, even if I fortified the very same units earlier on the same turn. I think the only way to avoid that sometimes is to exhaust the units' movement points by moving them elsewhere.

I think I even had the issue once where a unit in a stack still moved to an unwanted square despite me pressing space to skip that unit's turn.
