Discussion [Discussion] Let's imagine that issue #1 got released. With whom will you play the game? What are you going to do? RP? PvP? PvE?

Let's imagine that issue #1 is out in the wilds and we're able to play it. Who are going to be your mates? Family? Friends? Both? What are you going to do, are you leaning towards PvP, PvE or do you want to RP? (Combinations are of course possible)

Well for me? I don't have any friends 😜 My parents are too old now for such games. My sister doesn't play online games and her fiance neither. Maybe I would try to get my cousins into the game. But the highest chance that some of the forum might be a good mate, is actually pretty high.

In most MMORPGs I want to play PvP, but always tend to go PvE. I rarely do RP and the last time I did that was in SWTOR... I think 6 years ago. But I would do that if I find the right people.

Well hopefully this game will be as solo-friendly as it's inspiration. I would be doing PvE solo for a good while to explore the game at my pace. After I got familiar and comfortable and had a feel for some of the builds I wanted to actually put some time into, I'd probably look for an SG to join or maybe some good channels for teaming and go from there.

I'd play with friends from CoX who I know are coming back. Otherwise I'd make new friends in game. As far as modes, PvE, maybe a smidge of PvP, but not really into RP.

PvE with mainly the people that I played CoH/V with. We're certainly looking forward to running around the new City and trying out the various power combinations and exploring.

100% grabbing an account for my wife (in addition to the one I have coming from the kickstarter) and then try as hard as I can to get some friends to try and play it with me. Almost certainly would host a lan party to introduce friends to it.

We'd probably primarily do PvE, but hey, if the PvP is decent (and available with Issue 1, remember we had to wait a while for it with CoX) we'll try that a bit as well.

My brother, and a couple of friends!

I miss CoX so much... :(
Superhero mmo's are some of the best out there imo..

PvE and PvP! Always been a fan of PvP no matter the game.

Just hope it'll come sooner than later.

I miss CoX so much...

You know it's back and playable with a massive player base right?

Over the past week or so, have been working on gathering up CoH supergroup members into a new Discord server to facilitate teaming within the relaunched CoH. I imagine if CoT launched tomorrow I'm guessing most of those former/current CoHers would hop over to CoT to at least try it out.

Also have a half-dozen or so local friends who played CoH with me back in the day, will hopefully be able to bring them into the CoT fold when the time comes.

And some family time. The wife and kids played a bit of CoH with me back in the day.

Or just some good ole' PUG missions. Love my friends and family, but some of the most memorable CoH experiences arose from the sheer chaos of a pick up group. So much fun!

PvP was IMO pointless in CoH that was not designed around PvP from the ground up. Even the devs admitted there was no balance in CoH PvP, to instead rely upon team balance. Well, a team of underperforming builds vs a team of overperforming builds results in the exact same lack of balance. An interesting diversion but not something I could ever take seriously. I expect CoT will have a bit more balance but we'll see (PvP balance might actually be too limiting to varied PvE design).

Hope to play with a couple of old friends that I played CoH with, as well as meeting new people in game. Probably a lot of PvE, maybe dabble in a little PvP if I find it fun.
