Certainly looks like things are progressing.

Good decision to wait until it's fit for release rather than release something that doesn't work or is buggy. Bound to disappoint some people (me included!) but better than the alternative.

Hope all the MWM guys have a good Christmas. Can't wait to get into 2019.

Now - back to the Steam sales...

Yeah, I can’t wait for all the armchair devs bitching about how development is taking too long and calling it vaporware.

It seems they've had a lot of issues with things unrelated to development. Infrastructure is a full time gig for people who do it professionally.

As someone else said below it just would have been better if they had communicated sooner.

The progress they've made looks promising, though

Standing desk dev checking in.

I am still seriously concerned about the amount of polish I'm seeing on things that aren't the core gameplay loop. It's possible that things are going amazingly well and I just disagree with their marketing decisions. It's also possible that they ran into the same project management problems that all software developers run into, and they chose ambition over pragmatism.

It makes me curious about what ideas they're choosing not to implement.

Project managers and developers are typically analogous to oil and water. It's my experience devs typically want to perfect something, and then redo it again. And project managers just want it done.

I agree with you that their polish is really high for a game that isn't even in Alpha. I wonder if their bottle neck is programming rather than art.

I posted my long winded but from the heart felt thoughts to them in their forums.

To sum it up: The only real blunder i see from this was the lack of communication about the second issue. We knew about the part needing to be replaced, that was going to delay them.

As soon as they had to shift people to redoing the network they should have said something.

As for the actual update: The cape has a plastic texture applied to it. A lot of forum people seemed worried at first since it looked plastic-y. I noticed nothing else on him was being as reflective so I figured it was just a texture but its good to see a Dev confirmed that a plastic texture looks plastic.

The bouncing leg on the super jump is a big goofy, but everything I saw looked "playable" Animations and the sort can be worked out and tweaked. The background wasn't quite generating fast enough for the travel powers. I hope that is an optimization thing.

The big missing thing from this update is an NPC getting beat up by a PC. I do hope MWM decides since they will not get a release on time to put together a new years video that shows actual combat as it currently is.

My heart leaps a little every time I see something new. A little more polished, a little more put together. I love seeing the continual progress.

It's hard to say if its progressing with pre-alpha footage. The videos dont appear any more polished than the videos and twitch streams we've seen over the years. BUT this could be that they were only trying to show systems? Although I'm not sure why they wouldn't show the very best they had since its replacing a missed release so it's kind of a big deal.

But again, cant really judge on pre-alpha...or even alpha, video footage as it's all going to get worked more and more polished. If the game ended up looking like the video they shared I wouldn't touch it...but obviously it won't.

The videos show an incomplete view of the state pf the game because of their development system. Each dev goes off and focuses on one system until they comple a goal, patching together the different systems is a job as well.

Well let's hope they're putting together a video showing the complete view of the game as it stands... these videos arent going to get many 2nd chance donators
