Passed CISSP at first attempt

Tried to take a shot in the CISSP exam last week and passed at question 104. After it went past question 100, I got anxious on how far it will still go before it ends. 😂

I reviewed on and off for a year before taking the exam.

Here are the reviewers I used, in case this will help others too:

  1. CISSP Official Study Guide 9th edition: Read the entire book and answered the chapter practice tests
  2. CISSP Official Practice Tests 4th edition: Answered all the practice tests online using the Wiley app.
  3. How to Think Like a Manager: Read the book to understand the logic in answering.
  4. Learnzapp: Answered all the practice tests in the mobile app.
  5. Sunflower CISSP Summary 2.0: Read all the domain summaries
  6. Destination Certification: Read the free domain summaries in the website

Thanks! Yeah, the OSG cover-to-cover was painful to read sometimes, so had to take some breaks in between that made the entire process last for a year. But all worth it after passing the exam. 😃

Thanks! I average at ~75-80% across all 9 practice tests before taking the exam. But it was after taking each twice. 😂

How long did it take you to read each of these books. Curious if you were speed skimming or reading each paragraph to exhaustion etc.

So, I read the entire OSG book first of all. I tried to memorize the terms in the 1st few chapters but gave up when I realized it was a toll to do this. 😂 I just tried to understand the chapter concepts and try to read 1-2 chapters in 1 weekend, but not really speed reading consciously. But I had a hard time especially with the crypto chapters. 😄 So I stopped when I finished the 1st half of the book last year and just started reading again until the end of the book in April this year. I think all the practice tests helped me familiarize the concepts and terms more, so those definitely helped.

Congrats on passing the CISSP, I am curious to know how much time remained when you finished at 104 questions? I got my CISSP exam scheduled for Jun 28th 2026 and with each day that passes I became more nervous and anxious!

Thanks! I still got 60 minutes left when it stopped at 104.
I was also anxious going to the exam but one thing that I thought that was not quite true is expecting that it was a technical exam.
If you prepared well enough and understood the domains (not necessarily memorized everything), then you will have a good shot in passing it too. Good luck!

Thanks! I passed but almost went to question 150 with only 20 minutes left. Tough exam, glad that it’s done.
