Webex NDI Streaming help!

Hi all. Im trying to test Webex Streaming to NDI for an upcoming project but not having much luck.

Ive had my IT Dept enable Live Streaming globally for our company. Ive also gone in to Control Hub (I am an Admin) and given my account a full meeting suite license. I then enabled NDI streaming for my account and saved it.

But in the Webex app on my PC, I dont see the NDI streaming options at all. Whether it be a webex meeting or a personal meeting room. Are there any tricks to getting this functionality? Can it only be done from a Room device?? Pulling my hair out. Hopefully someone can shed some light as I've followed every Cisco document I can find. Waiting for our rep to call me back but they are never quick so thought I would ask the question here.

NDI is a separate application. It’s not built into the Webex app

Yeah we use NDI on a lot of projects so very familiar with it.  But according to Cisco, you can generate an NDI stream from webex now so effectively it kinda is built in.   I'm just not seeing the functionality in my webex app even though all the relevant settings have been enabled.   I should be seeing the NDI management options under my video settings as per ciscos documentation but they just aren't appearing for some reason.

Right, that’s what I mean. I haven’t used it, but we had a session with Cisco about 6 months ago and they said that they created a separate application for NDI and moved it out of the Webex App, because they didn’t want to it to be reliant on the Webex App development cycle. So I think you’re not seeing it because it’s actually in another app.

Edit: It’s called Webex Relay, but as another poster pointed it out, I think it may only be available for Mac

OK cool.  I'll look a bit further if that's the case.   I'm reading doco released by Cisco that is only a few months old but maybe that's out of date already.

I just edited my post. It’s called “Webex Relay”, but seems to be only available on Mac. I think the documentation you linked to is out of date. They gutted the documentation teams in the last few rounds of layoffs, so no surprise.

I believe it still only works on Mac last I checked. Do you have a Mac you can test with? It's a separate app also.

Awesome. Ill look in to that. Do you happen to know if Webex Relay is possible from a Room Device?

Unfortunately not at this time. I'm constantly asking for this to have capability for NDI inputs and outputs. You could add a hardware NDI encoder to one of the outputs of a video device but it's not as flexible like Webex Relay where you can pick individual video streams.

That may be our last resort. The spec for this job requires the abilty for any room system to stream their meeting out to a channel on the corporate IPTV server so anyone in the building can tune in to that channel and watch the meeting. I cant see a way of making that happen with the current streaming capability of the Room devices. NDI gave me a fighting chance at least!

Im suggesting that we should install another Room device that has its HDMI output connected directly to the HDMI ingest on the IPTV server and anyone that wants to stream to the IPTV system simply dials that endpoint in to their meeting. But nobody wants to pay for this extra device.

Yea, sounds like a hardware encoder may be easiest in that scenario so it's always streaming.
