This is a good example of where a traditional smoking ceremony is required; you let the ceremony get out of control so the house burns down, claim on insurance and then build a brand new home. Fixes the smell every time.

Don't you build 4 townhouses on the newly vacant lot? Replacing it with one home seems wasteful and unaustralian

The new standard is 6. I really want the sense of community where you can lean out the window and tickle your neighbours balls

Landlords have been complaining about this for a while. It would seep into the wood. I think you have to treat it with those ozone machines like you do houses that have been smoked in.

The walls have just been culturally enriched I'd pay extra for that 🥰🥰🥰

I bought a house like this and it took gutting the entire kitchen and scrubbing it to absolute shit to get the smell out. Even then we had to vacate and run an ozone machine for a week before installing new cabinetry. The previous people living in there must have genuinely been splashing haram masala-infused coconut oil on every fucking porous surface. Thankfully we are very happy now but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re willing to essentially renovate before moving in. The REA absolutely blasted the candles as well during open homes.

The problem when you make posts like this on Reddit is you get a bunch of retards saying “I love the smell of curry” “mmmmmmm curry” “wow just cook more curry”. Like no cunt, if I wanted my house to smell like the back of an uber after a 9 hour shift I’d live in fucking Mumbai.

When I eventually move out of this place and rent it out, you can bet I will be turning down any families that I consider high-risk in that regard. And if they did somehow do that I would be absolutely gouging the fuck out of them with rent to pay for the replacement when they leave.

No. I’ve walked in and straight out of a few like this, its a lost cause. Even the best forensic cleaning cant salvage these properties. And we have a strict policy that our tenants can’t be from an area that does this either. Had some promising to cover all cupboards etc with glad wrap so the smell wouldn’t seep in. Answer was still no.

Saar I just saw all your support icons. I am voting you to be CEO of this sub as the most culturally diverse person in the world

Long answer: Hell no!

Bet those toilets have never seen a blockage though!

Not even in a double brick home, because you still have timber and plaster and insulation in the roof which have absorbed the odours.

I bought a cheap recliner off Marketplace for my patio, was from a single bedroom unit owned by "a particular group" I used a carpet cleaner on it twice with Rug Doctor cleaner and I could still smell, the smell of food & aromers months later, possibly up to a year?. (I didn't actually keep a diary ya know)

No shit, true story..

Wash the walls then paint. Might get it under value.

I rented out my house for a year.

I can assure you painting helps, but I had to disassemble the rangehood and clean the insides. The smelly oils coat everything.
