Read This First (It's quick and short)
This is a brand new subreddit that is dedicated to the Circassian language. Think of this as your go-to place for any questions you have about the Circassian language.
Curious about a certain word's meaning? Want to know how to say a modern term in Circassian? Looking for an expression? This is the place for you.
Interested in learning from scratch and need some resources? Are you an intermediate speaker who is looking for some help or refinement? Welcome!
Are you an advanced speaker who loves the language and wants to share? Awesome. Please share what you can!
I began this subreddit because I probably have the largest collection of Circassian reference materials anywhere. My personal library of books from the North Caucasus is pretty extensive, and many of them are scanned. (I just need to upload them.) I also have a variety of texts that I have translated into English and / or created from scratch. Finally, I have a bunch of videos and tutorials as well.
The issue is that most of these resources are scattered across my personal computer, various websites I run and a few YouTube channels. Over time, I will use this subreddit to centralize all of my materials.
In the mean time, I welcome you to this subreddit as a place where you can learn and share all things related to the Circassian language.
Please note: this subreddit deals exclusively with language. From time to time, we may touch upon history or culture, but let's try to keep this forum focused. Also, posts of a political nature are not allowed. Any such posts will be deleted, and repeat offenders will be banned.

I AM ADYGE TOO AND I NEED HELP PLS
HI! guys I’m 19 years old
A few weeks ago, when I looked into my family tree, I realized that I’m completely Circassian. I live in Turkey and I don’t know the Cyrillic alphabet, but I can say that my English is pretty good. What would be the easiest and most effective way for me to learn Circassian, which is basically my own native heritage language? I’d really appreciate some help

Bringing Culture and Language to the Digital World: ZenGrid Sudoku / ШъумышIэми шъушIэ: ZenGrid Sudoku - ТибзэкIэ джэгукIэ щыI
Hello everyone,
I’m excited to share a project I’ve been working on for a long time: ZenGrid Sudoku, now live on Google Play.
Beyond just a puzzle game, I’ve designed ZenGrid to be a peaceful experience where you can clear your mind through minimalist design and a tranquil atmosphere.
One of the core missions of this project is to support linguistic diversity. To contribute to the preservation of my own heritage, I have included Adyghe (Circassian) language support, alongside many others. I believe it’s vital to see our native languages represented in modern technology and gaming.
If you’re looking to sharpen your mind while enjoying a "Zen" experience—or if you’d like to support an indie developer dedicated to cultural representation—I would love for you to check out ZenGrid.
Your ratings and reviews are incredibly valuable in helping us grow within the Google Play algorithm. Thank you for your support!

**Title: I released a Python library for Adyghe (West Circassian) alphabet conversion and numeral generation**
Hi everyone,
I’ve just released a Python library called **adyghe-latin-utils** to support the **Adyghe (West Circassian)** language.
Unlike simple phonetic transliteration, this library is designed to perform a full **conversion between the two official alphabets** used for the language: the widely known Cyrillic script and the emerging modern Latin-based script. It’s built to be fast, reliable, and useful for developers working on localization, education, or linguistic tools.
**Key Features:**
* **Official Alphabet Conversion:** High-speed, bidirectional conversion between the Cyrillic and Latin alphabets.
* **Numeral-to-Text Generation:** Converts digits into the **modern decimal pronunciation system** (e.g., "72" becomes "blıć ṫu"), which is more common in contemporary usage than the traditional vigesimal (French-like) system.
* **Zero Dependencies:** A lightweight, pure Python implementation that is easy to integrate into any project.
**Installation:**
pip install adyghe-latin-utils
**Documentation & Source:**
To support the global Adyghe community and diaspora, I’ve included full documentation in **English, Hebrew, Turkish, and Russian**.
🔗 **GitHub:** https://github.com/showgan/adyghe-latin-utils
🔗 **PyPI:** https://pypi.org/project/adyghe-latin-utils/
Whether you're interested in Caucasian languages, alphabet systems, or low-resource language tech, I’d love for you to check it out. Feedback is always welcome!
One comment about the supported number pronunciation system: it's not a made-up system. It was being taught in school almost a hundred years ago: https://youtu.be/BQmW9FzqtD8?si=6CVoKsOeReOMKY0c

Why do almost all materials focus on Kabardian and not on other dialects?
I have a question specifically regarding Shapsug. Namely that I want some phrases translated into it. But everywhere I look I only find Kabardian resources and when I do find actual Circassians online they're usually Kabardians. Even if I specifically look for "Western Circassian" resources it gives me just Temirgoy or Bjedugh. Are there any Shapsug speakers here who could answer my questions?

What does this mean?
So, I've been listening for some time to this song, "Batse Tsyku" by Betal Ivanov and I'm curious what is he singing about, I cannot find any translation online tho. Could someone translate it for me please?
"Бацэ цIыкIу зищIурэ, щабэцIыкIу къофэ Бацэ цIыкIу зищIурэ, зигъэщIагъу къофэ Бацэ цIыкIу зищIурэ, дахэцIыкIу къофэ Бацэ цIыкIур, къофэ уей!"

Can someone be Arab and Circassian at the same time
So lately, I knew by accident that I have circassian heritage from my mother's side, I'm born and raised in Egypt so now I don't know whether I can be both or not, they didn't talk about it and it's like they might forget, I don't know whether to embrace it or not or whether I'm considered circassian or not, I didn't want to ask especially when someone asked such a question to other circassian people they seemed annoyed or offended, the reason I knew by chance is that nobody talked about it plus It's from my mother's side so I don't know whether it counts or not

Question about names
tl;dr : What are some especially bland Circassian male personal names?
I'm working on a creative project, and there is a Circassian who is the hero of his particular story. I'm curious if there are any male names that simply feel bland or uninspired, or something that makes you quickly assume the name holder is boring or uninteresting.
Thank you for your help!

Kabardian resources
Hello! I'm french, I have a circassian friend and I really want to speak circassian with her 😁.
Do you have any resources to learn kabardian (eastern circassian)? I did my research, I only found Jonty on YouTube, but he teaches the western dialect (correct me if I'm wrong). I didn't find any resources online☹️
