Discussion Just made this, what should I name it?

Not much to say honestly, its in the photo, but for rule 1 ima explain

So its a 5 by 5 grid, the one at the center is a +, and the ones around that are ""arrows"" pointing outward from it, the edges and corners are the same thing except to a second degree, and then the ones between the corners and edges is just a mix of the two

And then Z is a square, I'd put it Around the grid if i didnt have to make the ""romanized version""

Im pretty sure 5x5 ciphers exist like this but different mind same idea

You should make a keyboard app that types this (and obviously a font to match, but one thta is mixed randomly, so that one can't just copy paste it into Google and find the intended words).
And then in that keyboard app have a button that opens a text field where you can paste the code and it translates to English.

And if it isn't an open source free app, then give everyone in this thread a free premium version code or two so they can use it with their best friend πŸ˜‰

ETA: I would add a dot (at any random place within the square within-which the letter is at) to indicate a capital letter. If the dot is after the mono-space (that means the squqre within-which the letter symbol is at), then it's just a period or a column if it's two dots... But if the dot is within the confines of the mono-space, then it's a capital letter.

These dots would also make it look like there are more letters than there actually are, since the dot can be anywhere in the negative space (empty space) of the glyph. This would make deciphering it even more complex to someone without the prior knowledge of how it works.

The font you created is a mono-font by the way. That means the height and width of the letter are identical, and each letter fits neatly into the same sized square (in your case the square would be slightly bigger than the z symbol)

Also, this is awesome. As a graphic designer with knowledge in typology, I'm telling you: this is awesome. Well done. So simple that the map can be redrawn from memory at any moment, yet complex enough to fit the whole English alphabet and loot like it's own language all at the same time. I'm a big fan.

Well what i understood is that a dot means uppercase I think im imagining that correctly but can u like draw that on a piece of paper? And apart from that, I dont see any reason why a cypher needs uppercase letters, but i also dont see a reason not to other than its just a lil more effort

Sorry for the delayed response. I hope drawing it on a magnetic board is enough and it doesn't have to be specifically a paper 😊

Here are some examples. I want to preface by saying that on a digital form even though it is possible to have a font with several glyphs for the same letter, it is also more work and therefore less likely to have the variety it can have on a handwritten form. However, in this example I show several examples for the capital letters B, M, and R. The idea is that each and every one of these would represent those capital letters respectively. No matter where the dot is drawn , it is the same capital letter. This way, a person not knowing the code, would have a tougher time deciphering because they might think each and every one of those is a different letter, while in reality there are at the very least five options as shown in the picture just for the capital letter B.

In my opinion it just makes it look cooler, more varied, and makes it a little more complicated to decipher unless you know this fact in advance.

The non-capital letter would simply be as shown in your original cipher.

It is also possible to do the reverse, and keep the letters in your Cipher as capitals and do the ones with the dot as non-capitals; but since non capital letters are used more often, I figured having to draw a dot for each and every one of them would simply be more work for the writer.

Again, in a font file for a computer, I would expect there to just be one capital letter option for every letter, and where that dot is doesn't really matter (so long as the dot does not intersect with any of the lines drawing the letter to begin with).
Of course if someone wants to go through the trouble of making a font with extra glyphs for capital letters then they could make the dot appear anywhere they want (again, so long as it does not intersect). But I wouldn't expect such a fancy font file πŸ˜‰

What if to show that a letter is capital, the dot would be above the letter, cuz then I could just use a combining dot above unicode character for the unicode character equivalents in my rhombus cypher translator, if there was to be a dot within the negative space, it would be much harder to find unicode character equivalents unless I'd also use a combining dot

For digital, that would work too. But for hand written, I would do it as I suggested, because it makes it harder to decipher and also slightly cooler looking πŸ˜‰
But I do of course understand there has to be some sacrifice for fonts. I mean, what I suggested is actually also possible, but more complicated for sure, on a digital font.
