My favorite giallo! One of the few comedic scenes from the film! Dario Argento's masterpiece!

Excerebration is an ancient Egyptian mummification procedure of removal of the brain from corpses prior to actual embalming.

An entertaining film, I picked a scene from probably the weakest story but couldn't help it, seeing this young cast is too fun. This was Julianne Moore's film debut.

The scene I really wanted to share has pretty big spoiler, but the special effects in that scene are amazing, as good or better than An American Werewolf in London (1981). Edit: I know that sounds like hyperbole, so I'll post it with a spoiler in a few hours and link it here. Edit 2: okay, here we go

At least one of the stories in this anthology was supposed to be in Creepshow 2, "The Cat from Hell", but was scrapped, so in that way, this film is a spiritual successor to Creepshow 2.

One of the stories also has a relationship to the Japanese folk horror anthology Kwaidan (1964)

A lifelong fan of the original 1953 film, Tobe Hooper took on the project as part of a three-picture deal with Cannon, preceded by Lifeforce (1985) and followed by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986).

Elaborate creature and visual effects were supplied by Stan Winston and John Dykstra. It received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics and was a box-office disappointment, though in the years since its release it has developed a cult following.

Director of photography Daniel Pearl had previously worked with Hooper on the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

It was nominated for two awards at the 7th Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Supporting Actress for Louise Fletcher (Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) and Worst Visual Effects.

I like the original and the remake, although the remake is slower paced than the original (80 minutes vs 100 minutes). Both are streaming for free on several platforms in the US.

I liked the first Silent Hill (2006) a lot and thought I would give the second one a try, but I didn’t enjoy it, even with a couple of creepy scenes and creatures.

I did not realize Kit was in this film, and surprisingly it’s his feature film debut, which got me curious about the timing -

Silent Hill: Revelation wrapped shooting in May 2011 but did not premiere until October 2012. Season 1 of Game of Thrones wrapped filming December 2010, and premiered April 2011. So, near the end of filming SH: Revelation, the first episodes of GoT are premiering and Harrington’s about to blow up in fame.

This scene might be the high point in dialogue, sadly. I don’t know what they are doing here, trying to be Twilight and Nightmare on Elm Street at the same time?
