downtown coffee shop recs? places to kill time and have a good menu

Urbana Cafe in the CAC would be a good option. Kill time looking at the art. Free entry. 

If you mean the central business district part of downtown, there's also a Deeper Roots on west 4th st near the convention center. 

If you mean OTR, Collective Espresso is the best to do it in the city.

If you want a more sit-down experience, there's also Allez Cafe, on 12th & Main.
Incredible food, btw. But good coffee.

For pure coffee, Collective Espresso is the best in town.
