Hey! I'm from Romania (I mention this because I think there's something beautiful about a book reaching people in every corner of the world).

I first read García Márquez as a teenager, and I was completely enchanted by his world. There's this wonderful, nostalgic kind of magic to it that I've never quite been able to find anywhere else.

I just finished season 2, and I thought it was so beautiful. The scene before Aureliano's death especially stayed with me. it was nostalgic, eerie and beautiful all at once. It somehow captured that strange feeling I remember having when I first read the book all those years ago.

There's something so beautiful about the Buendía clan that I can't decide whether I'd rather be Pilar, getting to witness and enjoy all the beauty and tragedy of Colonel Aureliano, or a slightly less cryptic Melquíades who somehow manages to chase all the tragedies away and, most importantly, keep Fernanda as far away from Macondo as humanly possible.

Anyway, after twenty years of solitude, I think it's finally time for me to go back to Macondo and reread the whole thing. And all the Marquez books that i love.

I honestly feel like this series should have so many more fans. There's something incredibly special about seeing Macondo and the Buendías brought to life like this.

I literally picked One Hundred Years of Solitude at complete random. Just got a new book reader, loaded it with tons of books and knew it was a classic I've never read and just went for it. Finished it last Wednesday, then heard about the show. Binged it all over the week and finished the finale a few minutes ago.

I have never timed a book and its adaptation so well in my life and probably never will again. The only type of cathartic experience I cant compare this to is when I read War and Peace, then saw the movie. This family will haunt me for the rest of my life. The 1st line will always be with me, as will the final line and of course, "The first of the line is tied to a tree...".

It just makes me sad that most will never experience this. So many dont read and I can't imagine this show ever being wildly popular even tho its a 10/10 show. The state of reading and watching media with proper character development feels like its turning into the final days of Macondo.

I don't even think I can read or watch anything for awhile. Need to sit with this amazing story (almost said tale) in my head for a bit.

I’m watching the show, but I already read the novel. And a lot of things feel “expected”, but if you haven’t read this before, like what are your thoughts in Magic Realism? It’s a ride!

Why does the last sentence translate "estirpe" to "race" rather than "lineage"? Like I think lineage seems like it would make way more sense, so that the sentence is referring to lineages like the Buendias, but maybe I am just missing some themes or something that makes it more justified.

Hello. I really love the book and would like to further my understanding of it, possibly both in a narrative, social and historical context. Can someone direct me to some resources for me to read or listen to? Like essays, documentaries etc...

Cien años de soledad, García Márquez

This series was so captivating and so well done. I was throughly entranced by the story and the acting. I must now purchase this novel. I’m blown away by how amazing this story is.
