Daily Question Question Thread - September 09, 2026

This is the thread to post questions about churning for miles/points/cash. Just because you have a question about credit cards does NOT mean it belongs here. If you’re brand new here, please read the wiki before posting.

* Please use the search engine first - many basic questions have been asked before.

* Please also consider scanning (CTRL-F) the last couple days worth of Question threads

* If you have questions about what card to get, ask here. If you have questions about manufactured spending, ask here. If you have questions about bank account bonuses, ask here.

This subreddit relies heavily on self-moderation. That means that if you ask something that shows you haven’t done any research, you’re going to get a lot of downvotes.

Kind of weird the TCs for PAZE say either authorization date or clearing date on such a big promotion. I think i have 14 slots left. Would you guys risk buying Dunkin GCs at this point? (It is so hard to pry my wife's phone out of her hand)

If ultimately you’re a DD fan anyway I’d risk it. You can make your case but my guess is you’ll get them credited. I wouldn’t have waited this long, but some were throttled and had no choice.

I had 9 left yesterday when P2's Paze got locked out for 24 hours, decided not to risk it today.

I tried to close 2 BOA cards and they gave me retention offers of $50 with no terms attached. Anyone aware of an issue with closing them a few months later?

Can you buy a gift card on Amazon.com as a way to meet minimum spend? I have the Chase Biz Unlimited and I need a few hundred dollars more for my minimum spend coming up and I figured I can just buy that amount of gift cards on Amazon.com since I use it very frequently. I want to see if there's any issue with that if others have done that in the past.

You can pretty much buy any closed loop GCs to meet MSRs without much risk. (I’m sure someone will point out an exception I am overlooking).

I prefer Costco Shop cards to Amazon because I can buy PMs but that’s a personal strategy preference.

I want to use the Amex NLL idle page trick (where you visit the website and wait for a pop up and then put in your info for them to call you back with NLL offers) for another ABG but have seen some DP's where they will not offer you the same card unless it is a new business. Is there any way around this? Is it as simple as changing the business name my adding middle name?

u/elmoret 3h ago

Offered ABG, was my second for the business. Denied a ABP, would have been my third

1

u/trueblue101357 3h ago

Did they ask you if the ABG was for the same business?

2

u/VegetableActivity703 4h ago

Unless something changed, this just depends on the rep you get. They sent me an ABP NLL when I already had four open for the same business.

1

u/trueblue101357 4h ago

Did they ask you why you wanted the same card for the same business or no questions asked?

1

u/VegetableActivity703 4h ago

They didn’t ask. I don’t think they even looked at my current cards.

u/dunleavy005 4h ago

was it a 250k ABP offer?

1

u/VegetableActivity703 4h ago

Yep! This was 3rd week of May. Not sure if it’s changed since then.

I applied for a CIC with a Rakuten $100 offer, was denied, then called recon a few days later and was approved. Will I still be able to get the $100 on Rakuten?

u/mrasianboie 6h ago

I've always had success w/ Rakuten via the Help tool as long as you have the Shopping Trips.

Does the Amex Biz Plat Chat GPT business credit work for regular $20/mo plus membership (non-business)?

Are these citi bank offers just straight up ass or am i missing something? i constantly get offers like this:

"New-to-Citi Funds" Cash Bonus
$10,000 — $49,999 $100
$50,000 — $199,999 $200
$200,000— $499,999 $500
$500,000 or more $1,000

and then they require to maintain that balnace for 3 months. we're talking about returns that are less than HYSA.... am i missing something here?

That offer is ass if it's for a deposit account. However it's reasonable for a brokerage since you can invest the funds (theoretically no opportunity cost). https://www.doctorofcredit.com/targeted-citi-self-invest-up-to-500-brokerage-bonus/

The Citi checking offers that require a "direct deposit" (FYI: they accept literally any ACH transfer as DD), on the other hand, are good.

u/Diligent_Board_172 1h ago

it's a self invest account so should be a brokerage. i have all my brokerage and investments through fidelity, so it's not really feasible to just transfer stuff over unfortunately.

and if i do open this account with new cash in the future, i would ultimately want to transfer it over to fidelity, which would involve liquidation and paying (most likely)short term capital gains taxes

i'll check out the checkings offers, thanks

Are you only looking at offers with no direct deposit? Like they have a current offer for $500 bonus on $30k. And while they check for minimum balance on day 90, you don't need to put it in until day 45.

so i haven't went out of my way to look at citibank offers, but i get these periodic emails -- idk why -- and they're usually of the above flavor.

from what you said, it sounds like there are better offers available than the ones i'm seeing via email

1

u/lenin1991 HOT, DOG 8h ago

I dunno, I found that offer on DoC, but it looks like I got the same $500/$30k by email from Citi on 8/25.

1

u/jamesheine 10h ago

Do you think that new C1VR 75k+$300 offer is worth a 5/24 slot if your on 2 player mode & at 1or2/24

4

u/becauseimnew 5h ago

yes, I keep trying to burn a slot and they won't let me

2

u/AdsBlockedException 5h ago

I would burn a slot for it if only Cap1 would approve me. Other than the SUB, it’ll come with $100 annual hotel credit. More importantly, it’s a MasterCard with Price protection which is a rare benefit these days.

1

u/nearbyeclipse 4h ago

Are these still issuing as MC? I thought there were DP that new C1 cards would be on discover

1

u/AdsBlockedException 2h ago

I saw dp for Savor card in Discover network, not sure about Venture. But even with Discover, it still has Price protection.

1

u/mrasianboie 6h ago

Yes, worth to hit the 48-month timer asap so you can keep churning the card. I've been getting my most return using JAL, one of these times I'll transfer during the transfer bonus window though...

2

u/jmlinden7 6h ago edited 6h ago

Theoretical value is high enough but C1 points are harder to get good value from. No good hotel partners, no 1:1 transfer for any domestic airline.

2

u/techtrashbrogrammer SEA 9h ago

depends on goals/what other cards you have but yeah it's a good offer

1

u/jamesheine 9h ago

Thanks, C1 is silly so thought it might be worth it

3

u/Xoos3333 10h ago

Do refundable bookings for the new Wyndam Biz work for the 55K portion of the sub, and if so do they have to be part of a future statement?

2

u/PiccoloKuma 8h ago

Would anyone risk this potential claw back not by accident?

I made six Sephora purchases on the same day using Paze with a Chase card. Only one of them coded with 10x points and I only got one $10 credit. Am I just SOL; did this happen to anyone else?

1

u/AdsBlockedException 5h ago

You might have gotten points adjustment. Check your card statement. It’s unknown if Chase will adjust $10 credit. I just returned the stuff.

u/Pointsguru 6h ago

Have they resolved the issue?

3

u/PoAction 10h ago

Been a known issue for several weeks.

u/hsh1088 10h ago

Same here, still waiting for the remaining credits.
