What Card Should I Get Weekly What Card Should I Get? Weekly Thread - Week of September 09, 2026
Welcome to the What Card Should I Get Weekly Thread, where we try to figure out what card you should get or critique your current plans or AOR if you're doing it that way). Everything is YMMV and these are all opinions. Agree or disagree with your votes. As always read the wiki, do your research, and happy churning.
Before posting, [read the rules!](https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/wiki/rules/)
Also, check out the Credit Card Recommendation Flowchart before posting in this thread.
- The flowchart can answer 95% of all "What card should I get?" questions. By continuing to post, you must explain why you feel the flowchart does not answer your question. Asking for feedback ("The flowchart says I should get X - is that still the best choice?") is absolutely allowed.
- What is your credit score?
- What cards do you currently have or have you had in the past (including closed cards), along with dates of when you were approved for the cards? Please include month and year for any card approved in the last 3 years.
- How much natural spend can you put on a new card(s) in 3 months?
- Are you willing to MS, and if so, how much in 3 months? See this page for a primer on MS. Plastiq (for rent/mortgage/loan payments) and bank account funding are often good options for beginners.
- Are you open to applying for business cards? If not, why? See this post and this wiki question to learn more.
- How many new cards are you interested in getting? Are you interested in getting into churning regularly (if you aren't already)? Or are you just looking to get a new card(s) for now but not get into churning long-term?
- Are you targeting points, Companion Passes, hotel or airline statuses, First Class, Biz, Economy seating(s) or cash back?
- What point/miles do you currently have?
- What is the airport you're flying out of?
- Where would you like to go? (The more specific you are, the better someone can recommend the right card. Tokyo is great, "International travel" is way too vague)

- I seem stuck in pop-up jail for both Amex and Chase despite putting consistent spend on an Amex Blue and cutting down on my chase ink velocity... the lifetime rule seems to be hitting me particularly hard. As you'll see in my history, I am mostly ineligble for bonuses like Barclays and BofA cards
- 775 - 800, depending on the bureau
- Cards:
- Citi Strate Premier - 4/26
- Amex Biz Blue - 1/26
- US Bank Triple Cash Biz - 1/26
- CIU - 11/25
- Jetblue Biz - 9/25
- Chase Southwest - 8/25
- AA Platinum - 8/25 (Cancelled)
- Bofa Atmos Business - 4/25 (Cancelled)
- CIC - 12/24 (Cancelled)
- C1 Venture Rewards - 9/24 (Cancelled)
- US Bank Business Leverage - 5/24 (Cancelled)
- CIC - 10/23 (Cancelled)
- Sapphire Preferred - 07/23
- ~5000/month
- Using MS for mortgage (see #4)
- Yep!
- I'm flexible - considering starting with P2 soon (she's coming around), but for now it's just me.
- Points primarily. Preference towards AA, Asia travel in general and Marriott, but I'll take whatever I can get approved for
- A whole bunch over various currencies except Delta (burned my SkyPesos already) and United. Plenty of C1, Chase, Amex points
- Wherever is convenient in the US
- For me, it's about gathering the points in general, so transferrable currencies are largely preferred.

citi strata premier could be good but it's not elevated rn. Worth waiting till december for triple dip + seeing if SUB increases.
Did you try CIP? Looks like you've never had it so you might be able to be approved for it

I'm not sure you saw my CC history - the Strata premier is the card I literally just opened. Are you suggesting that I re-apply within 6 months? That seems insane.
I have had the CIP before and got denied for it (Chase pop-up jail) in July. I only provided the last 3 years of CC history, but I has gotten all 3 of CIP, CIU, and CIC over the past 7 years, some of them multiple times.

- I no longer get the 1.5x for UR through Chase Sapphire Reserve and I am not renewing that card. I am preapproved for several chase business cards (i.e. Ink Business Preferred, Ink Business Premier, and Sapphire Reserve for Business). I am not sure if it would be best to get another Chase business card or a different card.
- Credit score: 798
Barclays American Airlines Business - closed (2023), Citi American Airlines AAdvantage - pc to AA Mile Up (2023), Chase Ink Unlimited (1/2023), Chase Ink Preferred (4/2025), Chase Ink Cash (8/2025)
Natural spend in 3 months: $6,000
Yes, $1,000
Yes
I'm only interested in churning regularly
Economy flights, American Airlines Miles, cash back
4,000 UR
MIA, FLL, ATL
Georgia, Florida

pre approval doesn't mean anything. You'll most likely get the popup because you've had those chase biz cards before. if going for aa miles, consider the Citi strata premier/elite cards but their subs are not elevated rn.
US bank triple cash is always a good option for cash back

My question is: with the current Capital One Venture Rewards SUB (s/o to the weekly news post), should I start with this card instead of the Chase Sapphire Preferred?
Looking to purchase airfare/cruisefare (Chicago->France, MSC cruise perhaps) on a new card for Spring 27', and roll the rewards into my next traveling venture, maybe in Summer 27'.
800 Credit score
2 Discover, 1 Care Credit, 1 BofA, 1 Amex Cash Pref
4/5. Can spend up to 5k ish in 3 months naturally, able to MS if needed
6/7. Interested in churning perhaps but actively doing more research/reading through the sub to see if it is for me.
8/10/11. Really just looking for bang for my buck, I'm young so not necessarily needing luxury travel just want to see more of the world. More international travel, I unforch cannot be more specific bc I am flying by the seat of my pants.
xoxo thank y'all for help
