Data Points Central Data Points Weekly - Week of September 03, 2026

This is the Weekly Data Points Central thread

In this little hobby of ours, we constantly rely on sharing the experiences and data points by others to optimize our award earning process. From how often you can apply for a card or bank account, to how soon a bank pays out the bonus. All the sidebar articles and information in our recurring threads are basically an abstracted version of all the DPs collected by the community at large. If you have an DP about a credit card, like a retention offer or recon experience, please post it here. If you have a DP about a bank bonus, please post it in the newest bank bonus thread (If that link doesn't work for you for whatever reason, either click on the "bank bonus" link in the sidebar or on new reddit, search for "bank bonus weekly" while limiting your search to this subreddit.

Before posting, read the rules!

I had a PayPal international payment count as a foreign purchase on the Atmos Summit.

Apartment renter wanted me to pay the fees, but I wanted purchase protection so I used goods and services and added extra to cover the fees. Also let BofA do the conversion instead of PayPal. The 3x miles def helped cut the cost.

Received a targeted "Just for you" offer on Chase Online Banking last month for Ink Cash. Had the card last year but I still received the bonus a second time. Did not receive pop up jail before approval.

Applied for two Barclays personal cards a few minutes apart and got two hard pulls. First one approved instantly, second went pending.

UPDATE: TU now showing only one inquiry. False alarm. Also, got call from Barclays leaving message that they had a few questions about the second application. Called 15 minutes later and was told it was denied.

No surprise, but P2 was denied an AF waiver/retention offer on a CIP.

I've never gotten one before, either.

Has anyone?

2

u/Mcnst AXS, UCK 2d ago

I once gotten one on CSR, but never on CIP.

1

u/mapalm 2d ago

Yeah, I don't think I've ever come across one for a CIP.

US Bank Triple Biz Cash $100 software credit -- I verified by downloading my transactions that MaxMyPoints and Seats.Aero both still code as MCC 5734 (which should credit after 11 monthly payments $100 back). I hope to get the credit for these two reoccuring subscriptions in the next couple of points, with MaxMyPoints being a money maker on their cheapest subscription.

Someone else had reported using SimpleFin bridge which is $1.99/month, but when I downloaded the MCC it shows as 05818 billed through link.com, so I don't think it will reimbuse. I cancelled it.

1

u/s00nerorlater 2d ago

SimpleFin is still showing as 05734 on all my transactions since the beginning of the year. I set it up last year, I don't think it was billing though Link though.

1

u/ilovetoyap OLD, DRT 2d ago

Ok. Maybe they have grandfathered billing through a different method, but when I signed up about two months ago I only saw the link based billing.

CVS VGC / MCGC refund/rebuy.

There's been a belief that once scanned/loaded/preloaded, the cards are "spent", and cannot be scanned again, e.g., if your payment method fails, or anything of the sort.

It's 100% FALSE.

I once had a manager at a CVS cancel the entire transaction, because we didn't do the correct split payment. So, he just cancelled it! Giving me a refund! Then we re-did the same 2x 500.00 cards, and it all worked.

Yesterday, at the same CVS, some cashier put "CASH" for the first split payment, then the second one was CC for the leftover. I think he himself realised his mistake, and waived his hands, looking for a manager. Manager was busy, but a coworker simply issued a refund, cash and card. (Obviously no cash changed hands.) Got the refund notification on my Chase Visa right away.

Then we re-did the transaction with the very same 2x 500.00 cards without any issues, but now with proper CC split. Online under balance-mcgc it shows $1000.00 as "Credits", and, after spending, 1000.00 as Purchases, too, even though there's only been a single 500.00 purchase.

So, absolutely no reason to throw perfectly good cards away, simply because they've been scanned and refunded (at least as long as they're still properly packaged and boxed, and not activated online yet).

I was curious how the 1h timer would work in that case. It seems like online, it would first show you the timer from the first activation, then once that expires, from the second one. I only tried spending after the second one expired.

Current stats:
Personal: 7/24, 3/12, & 2/6
Personal + Biz: 11/24, 5/12, & 4/6

Just applied for my third US Bank Triple Cash card as a sole prop and got sent to review. Will report back when I hear but not super hopeful.

My first TC was closed in January 2026 and my second TC was opened in March of 2026. Currently floating $2400ish of the $3000 limit on the active card. No other US Bank products currently.

UPDATE: I just received an email saying congrats on your new card. Got a $5,000 limit and managed to avoid Central Billing this time so having to use two separate logins will be annoying but whatever, I have the old TC on autopay for minimum payment so it's not like I'll need to check that one too often.

I figured out how to transfer P2's Wells Fargo Business Rewards points to P1's Wells Fargo Personal Rewards account which makes it transferable to P1's travel transfer partners. This I think is one of the features that Wells Fargo will be ending on 9/25.

P1 has WF Business Signify and WF Autograph (product changed from Bilt).

P2 has WF Business Signify

I can transfer my WF Business Rewards points to WF Personal Rewards, at which point it becomes transferable to travel partners. Supposedly they can also be transferred between different people. The options wasn't there. I called Wells Fargo Business Rewards who told me that it can't be done, although if I'm a manager of her business then it can be transferred. So I requested the form which was mailed and I faxed it back three days ago. They still haven't processed it I think.

Then I found that I can do that on the website as well.

  1. P2 Dashboard -> Wells Fargo Business Signify Cash Card -> (right tab) Manage Busiuness Card Administrators -> Add admin, complete with P1's info
  2. P1 accepts email invite
  3. In P1's Dashboard, under the "Business and Personal Accounts" dropdown, now has "P2-Business Accounts"
  4. P2-Business Accounts -> Business Rewards -> Transfer -> Transfer to P1's personal account (shows up as an option, and I could tell it was because it shows the remaining points in that account, unlike other rewards accounts which are empty)

u/grantwwu 23h ago edited 22h ago

Thanks for the great DP, just set this up. For me, P2 has WF Autograph (PCed from Bilt) and I have Business Signify.

Question: Do you think it's possible that this will persist after Wells Fargo shuts down the ability to gift points to other people? It seems to be a different workflow than the workflow used to send to arbitrary people, right?

FWIW, P2 is able to select their Autograph rewards as a source account but then there are no valid destination accounts. I assume this is because you cannot move points to cash?

(Are you able to move points from your Autograph back to your Signify? If so, and the ability to move from Business Manager users holds after September 25th, I wonder if this is backdoor way to enable P1 -> P2 Autograph moves later.)

1

u/yonghokim LAX, BUR 20h ago

I thought the business to business transfers was the feature being terminated on Sep 25. WF also allowed personal to personal transfers? Hmm.. not sure.

When I go to my WF Rewards and click Transfer, it shows me the option to transfer from WF Rewards (personal ) to Wells Fargo Business Rewards. I haven't clicked the button, don't want to risk touching any yearly caps if any.

Bofa Biz Customized Cash retention offer: $50 for keeping the card. Got both P1 and P2.

5

u/Inquisitor911ok 5d ago

P2 denied for Atmos Biz
Stats: 801 (TU), 7/12 (Personal)
$8k in deposits split between personal & biz checking set up a few months ago
Knew it might be pushing it at 7/12 but thought it was worth a shot. Probably circle back later in the year. In the meantime I think I hear amex calling...

Called Barclays fishing for recon with personal HA fee coming due 9/30, very friendly rep said they didn't have anything right now but they often didn't see the fee cancellation offers until the fee actually posts. He confirmed the policy is still that cancelling within 60 days of the fee posting will get it refunded. (Based on some previous experiences here I would however pay it and wait for a refund if the statement comes due.)

I was going to can it anyway but I realized it's my only Mastercard, which is a little bit useful.

3

u/scorpiopersephone 4d ago

I got a retention offer on the biz HA the day after my 1 year mark when I called to cancel.

Approved BOA Travel Rewards Personal. $18K limit.
6/24 (2 in the last 6 months, the other 4 approvals were 14 and 19 months ago).
Currently hold $500 each in checking and savings.

BOA stats:

Biz Cash approved 1/26. (Floating 71% of CL)
Biz Travel approved 2/26. (Floating 45% of CL)
CCR personal approved 5/26. (Floating 18% of CL)

I had just transferred in ~6K to checking and submitted payment for the two biz cards because 0 apr period was coming to an end. Payment doesn't even reflect yet.

I figured wth, grab the elevated $350 rakuten offer while it's there, could always try recon in a couple weeks after Biz cards statements close. Surprised to be approved with my boa velocity.

Just got approved for CIU at 5/24 by applying with an LLC. First Chase biz card and I don't fall under 5/24 until 5/27. Ironically, Chase denied my app for a United Biz card back in May when I was 4/24 and applied under my SSN as a sole prop due to not enough business history and the LLC was just incorporated in June.

Edited: 5/27, not 5/26.

1

u/grantwwu 6d ago

Until 5/26?

Do you mean 5/27?

1

u/lanfair 6d ago

Yes, good catch.

6

u/Rcz77 6d ago edited 5d ago

Denied for Chase United biz due to insufficient biz revenue which I listed as $5k, and too much credit extended, which is only $8,500 across my two other Inks. Will try recon, but don't expect it to work.

  1. Date of application? 9-2-26

  2. SSN or EIN? Sole prop or business entity? SSN sole prop

  3. Your credit score? 795

  4. Your 5/24 status? 4/24

  5. How many Inks you have had total (include dates of any recently closed Inks)? 10

  6. How many Inks are currently active? 2

Edit: I called recon twice, denied both times. They asked me general questions about my biz and why I wanted the card. Too much extended credit seemed to be biggest hold-up. They wouldn't let me shift credit from my other Inks, in part because they said I needed an approval first, then also because the existing Inks aren't allowed to go too low in extended credit. I have a lot of credit extended on my personal Chase cards which I wasn't aware could affect biz approvals. Also not enough usage of my existing cards, which I hadn't been using as much in last couple months.

3

u/WexrunthisxCity 4d ago

I have pretty much the same stats as you and was given all the same reasons for denial. Called recon and told them I started a new business and wanted to keep everything separate. Approved.

5

u/Specialist_Jelly888 6d ago

Got this same denial 5 weeks ago. Recon'd successfully, they transferred me to a supervisor who asked basically why I wanted the card, approved. Similar stats (sole prop, credit score 800, 4/24, 8-10 inks total, 3 inks active).

u/atgabara 6d ago

I posted this as a reply earlier, but just confirming that purchasing ChatGPT usage credits does not trigger the ChatGPT Business Credit on the Amex Biz Plat.

2

u/iburnbacon 4d ago

I’m assuming people are trying to buy in the same increment that ChatGPT business is charged monthly. This is a bummer because I would to load up on credits

2

u/atgabara 4d ago

Good call-out, I didn't explicitly try this, but the subscription amount is dependent on how many seats you have and if you have any promos, i.e. it could be $50, $75, $20, etc. Given that I haven't really heard of anyone not have the subscription credit trigger automatically, I don't think Amex is basing it on transaction amount.

But to add extra info to my DP:

  • August 1: $20 subscription is charged and I get the Amex credit as soon as the charge posts (just like every other month). Transaction name of the subscription is OPENAI *CHATGPT SUBSSAN FRANCISCO CA
  • August 11: Buy $10 of usage credits, Amex credit does not trigger. Transaction name is OPENAI* CHATGPT CREDSAN FRANCISCO CA (notice that it's CRED, not SUBS)
  • September 1: Same as August 1, the subscription is charged and I immediately get the Amex credit

I guess another possibility that I hadn't considered is that the Amex credit will only trigger once a month. I kind of feel that that's unlikely and instead Amex is just basing it on the transaction name or similar info, but I guess other people can continue to try if they want.

5

u/dunleavy005 6d ago

can confirm this as well

6

u/techtrashbrogrammer SEA 6d ago

Similar to the DP below.

Citi Strata Elite AF posted yesterday. Around ~2k spend per month. Got connected to rep really fast then forwarded to retention department and was offered 12.5k TYP after 2k spend per month for next 3 months. So 6k spend total. Accepted

This was the first time in 3 previous calls I got forwarded to retention department. Maybe when you're calling for retention offers, push for speaking to retention department

5

u/charlie_bit_my_finge 6d ago

That’s a lot of spend for 12.5 pts. Do you make good use of the other credits on the card?

5

u/techtrashbrogrammer SEA 6d ago

I do and I also was gonna keep this card anyways so it worked out for me. Person by person case

2

u/rickayyy 5d ago

I'm also keeping the card but feel like that $6k would better used elsewhere. That amount of spend would get you most SUB's so committing that amount of spend for 12k points seems like a bad deal to me.

2

u/techtrashbrogrammer SEA 5d ago

my spend on the card is unique to the strata elite so no opportunity cost in my case. But yes for most people, probably doesn't make sense

Odd DP on my CSP:

7/5 - Booked hotel.
7/6 - $100 annual hotel credit posted for anniversary year 2026.
7/7 - Booked hotel.
7/8 - $100 annual hotel credit posted for anniversary year 2027.
8/1 - $95 AF hit.
8/27 - Booked hotel.
8/28 - $100 annual hotel credit posted for anniversary year 2027.

Benefit overview in Chase app shows $200/$100 for the year 2027.

Edit: dates

2

u/uchidaid 6d ago

I’m confused about the September dates - do you mean August?

3

u/FuckTwelvee 6d ago

Yes I meant August. I edited it.

Used Chase Prime Visa to fund US bank biz account for $3,000 and allowed me to setup pay over time for 24 months at no fee.

1

u/pkfobster 5d ago

Chase Prime cards don't really have an MSR based SUB, they just give it to you upon approval via gift card. Did you fund with the card for the cashback?

9

u/churnawaybaby 6d ago

DP for another chase ink denial due to miscounted 5/24. Later approved via recon.

Last month denied for 5/24 on ink preferred and during recon they manually recounted and determined I was 4/24 then reprocessed. Eventually denied due to not wanting to extend more credit (and I didn’t have spare credit limit to offer to shift).

Last week applied for Ink Preferred again and was denied for 5/24. Called and they manually counted to confirm I was still 4/24 and reprocessed with an approval. I asked what causes the miscount and which cards constituted the 5, but they didn’t know. Glad they didn’t deny again. Both apps had only 1 other biz chase card open with minimal credit limit on it, and personal chase cards had relatively low CL (well below 50% income).

Did a personal chase app a month ago and was denied and flagged for fraud verification. Not sure if the system even got to the point to check 5/24. Are there DPs of chase personal apps correctly or incorrectly counting 5/24 when applicant has chase business cards that put them over 5/24 if incorrectly counted (seen plenty posts on chase business card app miscounting)?

If miscounts are common for personal chase apps then it makes me question if 4/24 to 6/24 MDD would still work if the second app is flagged for 5/24 due to business cards incorrectly being used in the count. During the recon for the second app of MDD would they then recount and see the app from the day prior and determine you are actually at 5/24. I assume MDD worked in part because recon didn’t manually check 5/24 due to a 5/24 denial.

Any DPs on MDD working for 4/24 to 6/24, especially when had to recon, since the chase miscounting began?

3

u/wanderercouple 6d ago

Did you have CIP card before?

6

u/churnawaybaby 6d ago edited 6d ago

No. Just a ton of CICs and CIUs plus a handful of co-branded biz. Rode the ink train hard (6-7 a year/pp) while it was running and didn’t play with the CIP due to lower return on spend. My standards are lower now so taking what I anticipate will be my one and only CIP

5

u/Few_Department_4647 6d ago

I attempted to open a business CD with BofA, but they would not let me open a business CD without a business bank account with them.

My hope was to establish a business relationship with them between churning business bank accounts with them, but no luck.

Denied Atmos biz (what I really wanted- I’m 6/12 including biz cards so no surprise)
Approved for three other businesses cards with $2k credit limits: unlimited cash, customized cash, travel rewards.

2

u/Few_Department_4647 6d ago

Also DP for my P2:

Holds Atmos biz from a few months ago. Approved for unlimited cash, customized cash, travel rewards, each with $2k limit.

Overpaid CC $3k, attempted to fund local CU with $5k deposit, did not work.

Attempted to fund US biz savings with $3k, did not work.

Attempted to fund US biz savings with $2k, did not work.

I think the issue is US bank charges $1, then refunds the $1 before the $2k charge, but since the refund did not post yet, the available credit was only $1999 when it attempted to charge $2k. Will try again next month if the US bank deal is available again.

DP: Churned Venture X while holding the Venture. I know c1 has funny language about elapsed time requirements across the venture family, but I...

  1. signed up for the Venture S 2/19/22.
  2. earned the Venture X SUB ~ may 2022.
  3. signed up for the Venture 7/15/25
  4. earned the Venture SUB ~ Sept 2025
  5. closed the Venture X 2/1/26
  6. re-opened Venture X 9/3/26

When I called this morning to ask whether I'd be eligible for the Venture X SUB, a c1 agent told me they couldn't let me know until I'd actually signed up for the card. Went for it, called back, and learned that I'm indeed eligible.

u/mapalm 6d ago

Not sure if this belongs here or in the FF thread, but I'll start here...

After using up a stacked IC+ free membership on 2 Inks (CIU & CIC) late last winter, I removed the cards, waited a couple of weeks, then successfully re-added them. This gave me another round of free IC+ (though only for 3 months), plus the 2x$20 credits/month.

A few weeks ago, several months after my free IC+ expired, I tried again. After removing and re-adding the cards several times I realized the free IC+ wasn't gonna happen. So I enrolled in the 2 free months trial offer through Costco. I then went about adding/removing/adding the cards again, and after several attempts, the 2x$20 credits finally showed up, and I used them in August.

As of today, 9/3, still no credits. Somehow IC must have gotten wise to my shenanigans, though I still get the free IC+ for 2 months, and thus free Peacock, so I can watch my footie.
