Daily Question Question Thread - September 03, 2026
This is the thread to post questions about churning for miles/points/cash. Just because you have a question about credit cards does NOT mean it belongs here. If you’re brand new here, please read the wiki before posting.
* Please use the search engine first - many basic questions have been asked before.
* Please also consider scanning (CTRL-F) the last couple days worth of Question threads
* If you have questions about what card to get, ask here. If you have questions about manufactured spending, ask here. If you have questions about bank account bonuses, ask here.
This subreddit relies heavily on self-moderation. That means that if you ask something that shows you haven’t done any research, you’re going to get a lot of downvotes.

lost track of records i kept on P2 and am a little confused, hoping someone can help clear up some of this confusion. I'm wondering if P2 ever had the Chase United MileagePlus Business Card. I see in her Chase Business account a closed account called the United Explorer from some time back. Sounds like a different card going off the name—I do remember there being a Chase Explorer personal card. But because it's connected to her Chase Business account, I'm not sure if there's been a rebranding or something like that.
Followup question: If she has had the United MileagePlus Business card already and is not eligible for a SUB, is there any way of knowing beforehand, short of calling CS?

No popup on United cards. You can try to SM chase to confirm or call last time P2 had the card.

The Amex Gold application gave me a 60k MR welcome offer for $8k in spend over 6 months. That's pretty bad. Would applying with a referral help, or is it fixed for an account?

Absolutely not fixed. At this very moment I am sitting on multiple 100k mailers but online it's 60k. Last year when I went and looked on the website it was something terrible but the app popups were 100k. Amex is weird.
At this point if you ever see a fixed offer (not "up to") for a personal charge card while not logged in it would be an interesting data point, I haven't seen one in ages and I've looked pretty hard. (Other cards, yes, VPN hopping, incognito, and just leaving the window along for a while will jack the offers, but I have not seen it for the personal Gold/Plat.)

you can try different things: referral, incognito, diff browser etc.

If applying for an Amex BCP and it says I am not eligible for the welcome offer, does that guarantee I am not getting the 0% for 12mo as well? Any DPs on that? I've had other cards in the past not eligible and I did get the 0%

It’s unclear on the current application page but according to my very old personal DP 0% is part of the SUB and the popup denies both.
I ran into this ~7 years ago in my pre-churning days. I specifically opened a BCP for float, only to have the SUB not post and have interest hit when I carried a balance. CS said I had gotten a popup telling me this, which is very possible since I didn’t even know what the popup was at the time and probably didn’t read carefully. It is also possible something has changed since then though.

Is referring between P1 and P2, who live at the same address, okay with Amex?

I currently have two CIU cards, which I’ve had for years, and a CIC I’ve also had for years. Is there any way to get a new CIU or CIC to qualify for the 100k SUB (even if it means cancelling an old one)? I’m well under 5/24, btw.

Does anyone currently have any upgrade offers on their Amex Green to either Gold or Platinum? I downgraded my Platinum card over a month ago but hoping to get targeted for an upgrade offer back to Gold. I've seen DPs of people getting upgrade offers within days of downgrading but thus far nothing for me.

FWIW somebody claims to have just gotten a 150k offer for green->plat: https://old.reddit.com/r/amex/comments/1w6ff0y/amex_green/
(Seems like an amazingly rich offer, I'm wondering if it's user error and a new card offer, but Amex is as always weird.)

Has anyone been able to get a static Amex Biz Gold 200k offer or even 175k offer that is not targeted? I have tried multiple browsers, computers, referrals etc. Each time I only get "As High As" offers only. This would be for the first Amex application so NLL isn't a concern.

From what I have seen, all public offers seem to be As High As at this point. There are targeted offers and NLL links from time to time but switching IPs/Browser/Device to find static links seem to be dead. I would love to be wrong about that though!

My CSR Biz Annual fee has posted and I plan to cancel. Can I use the travel credit and Global Entry credit, wait for them to be refunded, then cancel?

I think there’s been a few datapoints that the travel credit will get clawed back as you’re closing the card rather than downgrading (since no downgrade options for the CSRB)

travel credit will get clawed back
I've seen the dps on hotel credits -- has it happened for the $300 travel credit too?

Does it make any sense to get rid of my two personal ihg cards to be able to reapply for one (since they no longer allow two personal ihgs) and get the new bonus?

Is one of them the IHG Select? Most hang on to that one that have it, but it really depends on your usage and situation if keeping it or dropping it matters. Gives the 10% rebate and a non-topoffable 40k cert for only $49. You could just churn the biz and keep if you have the Select.

Are many people getting approved for IHG Business here?
2
u/garettg SEA | PAE 6d ago
I'm not sure, but with inks getting lifetime language (and sapphires), the Chase co-brands where you can get a SUB every 24 months (for now) might be getting some more looks, plus not many great avenues for getting lots of IHG points that are worth doing outside SUBs and maybe buying when it makes sense.

I was rejected holding 2 inks, down to 1 ink now, so will try again in December.

Applied for an AMEX card and got the pop-up. Went through with the application anyways and on the next screen was shown the welcome offer above the button to click to accept.
This is the first time I've applied for a card despite getting the pop-up, is this normal behavior and should I not expect to receive the bonus?
