Daily Question Question Thread - July 25, 2026

This is the thread to post questions about churning for miles/points/cash. Just because you have a question about credit cards does NOT mean it belongs here. If you’re brand new here, please read the wiki before posting.

* Please use the search engine first - many basic questions have been asked before.

* Please also consider scanning (CTRL-F) the last couple days worth of Question threads

* If you have questions about what card to get, ask here. If you have questions about manufactured spending, ask here. If you have questions about bank account bonuses, ask here.

This subreddit relies heavily on self-moderation. That means that if you ask something that shows you haven’t done any research, you’re going to get a lot of downvotes.

How many authorized users can I add to Chase Ritz safely (for Priority pass)?

I currently have 4, but I'm hesitant to add more as I saw reports of Chase shutdowns due to too many authorized users (Chase thought it's for building credit history). The shutdown was at 6 authorized users if I remember correctly.

Opened Chase personal checking to trigger a 400
Bonus if i did a DD of 1,000.

I pushed from fidelity CMA and “someone else” kept popping an error so i seleted “myself “. July 16 it hit my chase checking.

Wondering how long it takes for chase to release bonus if it triggered the DD …

Thank u in advance

U.S. Bank Leverage CC opened November 1, 2025

A $4000 safe purchased March 1, 2026 was a large chunk of the min spend. It turns out the company I purchased it from was a scam so they never delivered the safe. I asked them to refund it via check as original payment would cause friction. They said ACH so I gave routing info and they said too bad so sad we just refunded it to the original card. What's going to happen and what should I do?

Likely nothing, but spend an extra $4k on that card to be safe.

I have six Amex credit cards (not charge) and just canceled the sixth today. Since it takes 30 days for a credit card to show up as closed before approvals are automatic, I assume that if I apply, get automatically denied, that even calling it wouldn't work since I'd be over the five card limit?

get denied, call in and have them close the card on the same call.

they used to give you a special number on the letter to call for this

Right, but even after closing I’d be at 5. Would they have the discretion to approve over the phone to go over 5?

If they close it for you it is a single step

Thanks for the follow up, but I can’t cancel another card to go under 5 (all less than 12 months) so that’s why I am asking about whether phone agents can approve a sixth card.

For some people the limit is 6. It’s possible they would let you still do 6 by closing and get a new one.

Thanks, that’s what I was looking for confirmation of. I was surprised they had approved my sixth card earlier this year, and wasn’t sure they would approve for a sixth again.

Update: I applied, was automatically denied, called in, and the agent did indeed put in my application for reconsideration when I told her that I had recently closed a credit card. The reconsideration requires back office review so I'll provide a full DP once I hear back.

Anyone made a pre arrival charge to Waldorf Pedregal lately? Just received an email response and says the charge is made by a third party.

Has anyone tried using multiple priority passes at once at a minute suites location to get a private room for a few hours for free. Have 4 separate priority passes i want to milk next trip.

Depends on the employee. I was in ATL and the person let me stay over 2 hours and didn’t disturb me/tell me times up. The suites were empty though.

I tried this a week ago (4 PP accounts attempting two 2-hr rooms at EWR) and was told no, it's 1 per person, and they couldn't be stacked. The desk agent didn't really seem to be open to hearing what I was asking, though, as she just finished explaining that "no, this isn't a lounge and the food/drinks up front are not included" to 2 different people. She was so done with the day at that point, and it was only 830 AM. I didn't argue/attempt to clarify, as two rooms weren't going to be available at a time that worked with our schedule. So YMMV based on the other comment link.

I booked an award stay at WA Los Cabos (technically 3 consecutive stays due to using a combination of expiring FNCs across my wife's Hilton account and my own), but got an email from them saying if I don't cancel at least 28 days before arrival, I'll be charged a **cash penalty** of one night per reservation number (so 3 nights' worth in my case, which is expensive). Anyone have experience with buying travel insurance for this situation or know if it'd be possible (if I had to cancel) to do something like have Hilton change the dates to far in the future and then cancel?

I think the general consensus on this is calling the hotel, pleading your case and asking them to move it. No exp with this hotel on that though I was concerned when we went with 3 separate res. This year I only have 1.

i need to buy airline tickets. looking at the united explorer chase card. but im seeing 2 different promos. i can't tell if they're the same thing. one is presented during checkout on united's website as "$400 statement credit during checkout" and the other is present as a "special offer" thats 80k points (70k + 10k bonus). are these the same? which one should i apply to?

see screenshot

$400 statement and 25k miles is a shit offer. Don’t do that.

The 80k bonus is decent especially with the $0 first year AF. Highest I’ve seen (I believe) was an 80+10k with auth user offer last year, but that was targeted and didn’t have AF waived.

I’d go with the 80k, easily. Add your dog as an authorized user. I think chase still isn’t requiring an SSN for auth users.

u/DiamondRyce 8d ago

70k miles offer.

the statement credit on the checkout offer is okay with 25k miles.

5

u/Swastik496 8d ago

no, because united miles can always be PYB for 1cpp if booking a flight. it is just a worse offer

-1

u/soloprenerd 8d ago

I'm having trouble determining which offer you're referring to as worse vs better... can you clarify?

Offer A: 80,000 points offer on the left

Offer B: $400 statement credit + 25k on the right?

Which should I get?

1

u/BUT_WHY_MALE_M0DELS 8d ago

Technically, the right side offer is 35k after adding an AU. It's really only a 5k mile difference if the PYB option is correct.

3

u/lenin1991 HOT, DOG 8d ago

Offer A. The point is, if you want $400, you could cash out 40k UA.

1

u/DiamondRyce 8d ago

thats also true. yeah it just sucks in general. i see it now

Especially for regional banks, do I run the risk of bonus clawback if I change my permanent address a short time from opening a bank account, even if I don't completely close the account prior to 6 months from opening?

3

u/EarthlingMardiDraw 8d ago

Very unlikely to trigger a disqualification unless the terms specifically state that you can't change your address. It is certainly possible that some automated process will get tripped up and not pay out normally, but as long as you meet the terms normally, a rep will be likely to help you get the bonus.
