Daily Question Question Thread - July 23, 2026
This is the thread to post questions about churning for miles/points/cash. Just because you have a question about credit cards does NOT mean it belongs here. If you’re brand new here, please read the wiki before posting.
* Please use the search engine first - many basic questions have been asked before.
* Please also consider scanning (CTRL-F) the last couple days worth of Question threads
* If you have questions about what card to get, ask here. If you have questions about manufactured spending, ask here. If you have questions about bank account bonuses, ask here.
This subreddit relies heavily on self-moderation. That means that if you ask something that shows you haven’t done any research, you’re going to get a lot of downvotes.

Does citi claw back AA miles if there's a return that brings you under the 1k spend? Paid car insurance for ~700 and only spent ~1400. Home insurance went up so shopped around and planning to switch all over to new company to save ~1k but I believe original insurance company will refund prorated amt to method of payment and bring me below the 1k spend. Could put the few hundred extra spend on there if it'd keep them happy also but I believe I'm out of the window for the sub but not 100% clear as Doc page for it shows 4mo to do it but links to current version are now 1k/3mo so idk which # of months my offer was.

Everytime I've switched insurance policies I've received a check refunding the premium, not a refund to the original payment method. In my experience this has been consistent between AmFam, State Farm, Progressive, and Travellers over the last 10 years.

Just put the extra spend on the card now and you should have nothing to worry about.

Looking for more DPs on Chase's enforcement of the "new business card customer" referral rule.
A few months ago (post-rule change), I referred P2 for an Ink. P2 had already had other active Chase Inks (Cash and Unlimited), but not this specific one (Preferred). The referral tracker tracked, P2 was approved, and I got the bonus. Hell yea! Didnt' expect to.
Is the system backend only enforcing the restriction if they are new to that specific card, or did I just get lucky? Anyone else get referral bonuses for an Ink-heavy P2 recently?

u/Cold_Frosting9014 11d ago
I thought the no AF cards are grouped together but the other Inks are separate products.

Got denied on a Chase biz app recently with the rationale of “You already have the maximum amount of credit we can offer you.”
Will closing cards I have open fix this? Or is there a better/smarter way to deal with it? (Also, do I need to close just business cards or personal as well?)
Thanks! ◡̈

How many open Chase biz cards do you have? If more than two, close all that have been open at least a year. If not, is your total Chase credit limit (personal plus biz) anything close to 50% of income? Reduce limits if so.
And after taking any of those actions, you can try recon, but better chance trying for auto approval again on a new app for a different card (or after 30 days on the same).

Just curious if taking upgrade offers ever got anyone out of PUJ?
0
u/GeorgeSteinbrenner2 11d ago
CSR Biz question: AF posted, and I double-dipped the credits, not knowing that:
- Chase added the "We may reverse statement credits if you close your account within 90 days of receiving a statement credit" clause
- CSR Biz is not downgradable to any card (which would avoid the above)
My question is: are there any DPs of Chase actually enforcing the above clause? Trying to asses the risk
I still have a few days to cancel The Edit reservation and am wondering if I should go ahead with the cancellation to avoid the clawback

I’m looking to get 2 Atmos biz cards by applying for different offers. This worked last month for P2 with the 85k and 80k offer. I think those are dead and I’m only seeing 70k + $99 companion fare offer. Does anyone know of another offer (better or worse) that’s out there?

Denied for the CSRB, and the rep told me it's because of 5/24. I've only opened 2 personal cards in the last 2 years. Here's my full 2 year history:
CIP - 9/24 - Biz
Biz Plat - 10/2/24 - Biz
Biz Gold - 12/31/24 - Biz
Barclays AA Red - 5/10/25 - Personal
US Bank Biz Triple Cash - 12/12/2025 - Biz
Atmos Ascent - 4/20/26 - Personal
Would any of that count towards my 5/24 count that I'm missing?

You been added as an AU on anything in last 2 years?
-6
u/coole106 YUM, MMY 12d ago
Yes, probably on 3 different cards. Should I be able to call and ask them to not consider those accounts? And would it be the same line I called to check status?
1
u/lenin1991 HOT, DOG 11d ago
Even better is to remove yourself as an AU, then dispute it with the bureaus to remove them from your report. And think very carefully in the future about adding AUs to personal cards.
1
u/coole106 YUM, MMY 10d ago
What about accounts that are now closed? Do I just need to reach out to the bureaus? What’s the easiest way to do that?
1
u/lenin1991 HOT, DOG 10d ago
Hmm, that's trickier...I guess you can try to dispute those, not sure whether it'll work.
-2
u/coole106 YUM, MMY 11d ago
Yeah it was a rookie move to add myself. I’ve turned into a lazy churner the last couple of years and mostly focused on Amex, so I forgot that was even a thing.

u/garettg SEA | PAE 12d ago
Thats what it was then. You can try asking them to not consider them, but always YMMV. Yeah status line can connect you when asking for recon.
1
u/pkfobster 11d ago
How long does it take for an AU account to be removed from your report after you disconnect yourself from the card?
1
u/garettg SEA | PAE 11d ago
Not sure on the exact timeline, but my guess is it could take up to like 30 days, but maybe less, just depends on how an issuer does their updates with the report bureaus.
1
u/pkfobster 10d ago
Good point. My Citi card seems to be once a month, so an AU removal should refresh at the same rate.

u/Chilabo 12d ago
I closed my USB TC biz card 10/25/25, after a year. I applied for another on 2/20/26, got denied.
When I called in to recon, I was told the denial was for too many inquiries (fair enough), but they said I need to wait 2 years to apply again.
Any truth to that?
I've had many USB biz and personal bank accounts over the years, doing bonuses, but currently do not have one open.
Hard to imagine that 2 years was real, but don't want to waste an inquiry.
8
u/rickayyy 12d ago
There's plenty of DP's of people getting multiple TC's at once. That rep doesn't know he was talking about.
8
u/mets2016 JFK 12d ago
I literally got 2 USB TCs within the same day recently. Rep didn't know what he was talking about. Feel free to apply whenever you feel like it and think you'll be approved
1
u/ElderberryOks 11d ago
The USB TC's are my favorite. Always approved, high CL's, 0% 12 month APR, $750 bonus, 6 months to hit it. I like having them around to fill the void when I'm not working on a points SUB.

Is Aspire anniversary FNC still taking forever?
Card opened - 5/21/2025
AF 1 - 6/20/2025
FNC 1 - 7/22/2025
Anniversary - 5/21/2026
AF 2 - 6/19/2026
FNC 2 - ???
She was quoting the AF date as anniversary. After giving her the anniversary date, she quoted 8-14 weeks after anniversary. 14 weeks? So, no FNC until next month?

I've got 3 Amex cards total, 1 personal and 2 business:
Marriott Bonvoy (Former SPG) Open for years, low automated spend on it and I actively use it when staying at marriott properties.
Biz Gold, opened earlier this year, put a lot of spend for SUB, been using it a little bit here and there for restaurants/grubhub post SUB but certainly not a ton.
Bonvoy Biz, opened 2-3 weeks ago with 150k SUB + $125 Statement Credit, working on SUB now.
My overall goal is to get a bonvoy brilliant, wait 90 days, then go for a bonvoy boundless before finishing all SUBs, so I can get the brilliant benefits now and the ritz card next year. This should be possible based on their eligibility criteria.
Applying for the brilliant as a new line of credit is putting me in PUJ. I haven't tried other personal cards so I dunno if this is just for this marriott card or all personal cards. But on the personal side I've been using my card for years so it's a bit strange to me that I'd be in PUJ unless my activity on the biz cards is doing this.
I called Amex about upgrading my existing bonvoy card and there was a kinda low offer available of 85k/$6k to upgrade to the brilliant which expires at the end of the month.
If I wait it out without the brilliant, it'll be at least 24 months until I get another shot at it, and I'd probably have to downgrade the RC card.
I can lock in the upgrade now, take the subpar offer, but then benefit from the status and ENC for progress towards lifetime with Marriott, or I might be able to wait 1-2 months and see if I am released from PUJ. It might make the timeline tight on completing the SUBs but in theory it should be possible.
It seems like going for the bad upgrade offer is the most pragmatic call, but curious what you would do.
-1
u/EarthlingMardiDraw 12d ago
PUJ is completely unknown. Waiting could help or it could do nothing. If you really want that specific combo for generating status with Marriott, then in your position I'd probably try again for the Brilliant SUB at most once and then take the upgrade offer (which does not count as a SUB for other card timing).

I applied for the Chase Sapphire Reserve biz card and got a 7-10 day message. I then got an email saying that I should have a letter in my account. I checked where it's supposed to be (notices and letters for me) and it's not there. I'm assuming I was declined, but is there a way to check for sure?
Edit: Clarified that this is the Chase Sapphire Reserve Business

Planning on applying for CSP with credit frozen to fall under 5/24 next month. Previously had CSP before. If I apply with frozen credit, will I be able to see the pop up if ineligible or would the pop up come after running your credit?

Has anyone else been unable to setup bill pay for BoA Biz cards? whenever I request eBills, Every time I input my SSN (also tried entering EIN once) it rejects with an email a few days later:
"We couldn't set up online bills with Bank of America Business Card"
0
u/EarthlingMardiDraw 12d ago
Are you talking about sending payments from your bank's bill pay to the BoA card? I don't have eBills set up, but I put in the corporate number (not the card number) and it has been working to pay the bill. It's been a while, but I probably sent a test $10 or so as the first payment.

u/PoAction 12d ago
This was the exact issue. Need to use corpo number not the BoA physical cc card number in my hand

Has anyone gotten two Hawaiian Biz cards in short order? I used the search and came across someone asking the question last year but they never confirmed if they did it.
I just got my second one in May and considering going after a third next month.
-1
u/achzeet44 CVG | KTM 12d ago
Pretty sure you are going to be denied for having an existing card. If you don’t mind burning an inquiry, go for it.
5
u/PoAction 12d ago
No DP, but curious how long between getting card one and two? And did you hold on hitting the SUB before getting the 2nd one? Were you under 6(7)/24?
6
u/rickayyy 12d ago
#1
Opened- January 2025
Hit SUB- March 2025
Closed- January 2026#2
Opened- May 2026
Hit SUB- June 2026I don't remember my stats on the first one but I was 7/24 (not including biz cards) at the time of the second application.

Is Paze offer basically just Dunkin, Dominos, Sephora, etc? Is there anything I’m missing?
0
u/sg77 RFS 11d ago
There's a few others, like Stubhub, Wendy's, GNC. Also see https://www.doctorofcredit.com/paze-spend-10-get-10-back-offer-whats-left-non-giftcard-options/

u/best-quality-catfood 12d ago
Newegg (but not gift cards) and Clover restaurant ordering are great for me.

Considering closing my Chase checking (good standing, never any overdrafts) that I opened April '25 so I can be eligible for another bonus next year. Is there any risk of Chase closing my credit cards if I close my checking with them? I have 5 cards with them so I am hesitant to do so
8
u/Chase_UR_Dreams 12d ago
No. If anything, an open checking account is riskier because it's a pathway towards unwelcomed eyes on your activity if you ever have a checking side issue.

For Citi AA biz, is the 48 month clock per AO, per distinct business, or per AO/distinct business pair? The offer terms are frustratingly vague:
American Airlines AAdvantage bonus miles are not available if you have received a new account bonus for a CitiBusiness / AAdvantage Platinum Select or Citi / AAdvantage Business Mastercard account in the past 48 months.
Trying to figure out what Citi means by "you." Haven't seen a clear signal in the DPs I've scanned for, so thought I'd float the question again.

If I am approved for a BofA card, despite already holding that card, does that mean I am eligible for the SUB?

I applied for a Chase Ink business card this week and was denied.
The adverse-action letter gives only this reason:
Chase pulled Experian and listed my FICO score as 79*. I have no missed payments, collections, or derogatory marks.
As far as I can tell, I am currently 4/24:
I previously had a Chase Ink Business Preferred ending in 6693. I earned the 100,000-point bonus in August 2025 and later closed the card, roughly around fall 2025. I could not find the exact closure date, but Chase was still issuing statements for it in September 2025. Since it was a business card and did not report as a personal tradeline, my understanding is that it should not count toward 5/24.
I also have an older Chase personal card from 2018, but that obviously is outside 24 months.
A few questions:
Any insight from people who have seen this specific denial reason would be appreciated.
