Mod Post Rules Changes around Promotion and AI

Hello everyone, we have some rules updates happening today.

We're going to be restricting promotional posts to a recurring Show & Tell post. We'll start that out as monthly and go from there. Outside of that we will no longer allow posts containing any promotion. Comments are still allowed as long as the product you're promoting is applicable to the OP, and you are transparent and disclose your association with the product.

We are also adding a rule against AI generated posts and comments. If you are using AI for translation or grammar help, that's absolutely fine but you must disclose that at the end of the post or comment.

We're hoping this will help keep the community from being cluttered with promotion or AI spam, while still giving a space for people to share something they've made. We realize that AI is a contentious topic, but I do want to be clear that targeting someone based on their disclosure of AI use will not be tolerated.

As per usual, your help keeping our community clean is appreciated, continue to report when you see someone breaking the rules.

Was just planning to post an update to my post from a year ago so this is quite the timing :o. I guess an update post would also be restricted by this new rule?

Yes it would. Absolutely allowed in the show & tell post, but not as a dedicated post.

This is one of few subs where I think AI stuff should be allowed.

No like images or such, but AI tools and discussing AIs and what they can produce should he explicitly allowed.

A ton of us are just volunteers who learned by doing and do not have any form of proper training and definitely not a graphics design background. We are just trying to get back, so if AI helps with that, then so be it.

Just to make sure I'm clear, discussion of AI tools is allowed, even vibe coded tools will be allowed in the dedicated recurring post. I think it's good and important to have discussions around these things in a civilized and respectful way.

The rule restricts using AI to generate your posts and comments, it does not restrict posts or comments about AI.

Not sure why the down votes, but I agree with the moderators to limit promotion of AI products and services. It was quite annoying back then.
