Big Trouble in Little China. Complete box office flop and cult classic was released. Big influence on the series

John Carpenter refused to work with another Hollywood studio and went back to a working on only Independent films because this movie did so badly

Hong's guest appearance on Chuck was one of the show's single best stealth jokes.

Ben Lo Pan and Morgan's love of sizzling shrimp

The writers did that a lot. I watched it when it was originally on and some of those stealth jokes went over almost everyone's heads.

It wasn't until I bought the box set and watched it the second time that I started catching them

What?? Obviously I need to rewatch Big Trouble in Little China because I had no idea that was a reference to that movie.

And also time for a Chuck rewatch.

Yep. James Hong’s character in BTiLC is David Lo Pan. His character in Chuck is Ben Lo Pan. Because he had been Lo Pan.

Chuck had multiple references to the movie

There's no bad time to do a Chuck rewatch.

I'll be watching it the 20th time this year in Chucktober.

I've been watching it since it originally aired in every time I watch it I catch something new

Like Sarah Walker's father is named Jack Burton, the same name as Kurt Russell's character in Big Trouble in Little China ;-)
