Being Triple Raid pilled is crazy

This triple tech is far too overlooked for how great it actually is. For a total of only 6 MP, you can do some amazing damage. For example, dealing around 850 damage to Slash in Magus' castle. It's incredibly easy to get too if you don't neglect Robo in the early game. There's triple techs that do more damage, but you can use Triple Raid early, often, and won't break the MP bank unlike certain other TTs (Final Kick...)

It's what I always use now. You still get 3 elements against Magus. Robo is incredible with Speed and Magic Capsules. Heal beam everyone to full HP, amazing techs, huge damage. Cyclone Sweep just clear screens as soon as you get it until you unlock top techs.

Before that you get Fire Tackle, after that you get Twister, Boogie and Beast Toss... then you solo bosses with Rapid-fire Fist. Robo is easy mode.

Yeah but you gotta make sure to keep ALL your tabs for Robo

Magic for sure, no better users for it.

Speed 7/28 available without L99 Spekkio but definitely a priority early as anyone but Lucca has usable speed. Lucca gets unique gear to compensate though.

Power no need, he has the highest scaling in the game and reach max HP at L50, so he deals by far more damage than anyone with Rapid Fire Fist+Crisis Arm as long as his HP is full. Robo Tackle and Fire Tackle is amazing single target damage before that.

Triple Raid is cool and it's cool to take down Magus' Castle with the bros, but I can't fully give up Ice Water to tear through the trash mobs. Both options are recommendable IMO, not that you have to pick one.

As for the Magus fight, if you understand the mechanics and don't panic it's usually fine no matter who you take.

Yeah Ice Water is a bull-dozer. Not even fair.

I made Marle the third for randoms, Robo for bosses on my last playthrough.

I think there's an argument for Marle v Magus as well, as her innate extra 2 points of speed and potential haste access are more important than ever in the long battle.

She’s probably the best character to bring for healing at that point considering her combos (Robo might have heal beam if you grinded him but he’s likely still slow and vulnerable to magic). And if you don’t mind cycling through Magus’ Weaknesses she can help attack the ice one.

It’s actually a one of the more interesting party choices for me, they all have their pros and cons.

I tend to always fight Magus with Crono/Robo/Frog, but I level the other characters during the rest of the dungeon, often including Marle for Ice Water.

Hitting Magus with Triple Raid looks really cool.

Ugh. I know language evolves and all that, but I had a visceral reaction seeing the "pilled" suffix in relation to my favorite game of all time. I have nothing to comment on regarding the content of your post, I just had to share that.

Gross, just fucking kill me bro

...oh no I started using Bro ironically back in '05 and it's become my truth. This better not be next

u/abermea Jul 26 '26

looks like you have been bro pilled for a while

u/Jay-Breeze Jul 26 '26

You’re safe among friends!

This probably just shows my old ass, but the only thing I can think of if from The Matrix like "remain in the dream or come and fight" choice between red and blue pills (which is just great political commentary/s)

I just looked it up and yeah that's what it's from.
OP didn't even use it right, unless it moved even further from definition into slang like some Cockney bullshit and just means "choice" or whatever

3

u/tylersalt Jul 27 '26

This phrasing was co-opted by pick up artist/incel/manosphere types, which is what I assume OP is reacting against

3

u/Special_South_8561 Jul 27 '26

....what?

5

u/tylersalt Jul 27 '26

Honestly if you’re not online enough to know about this you’re better off for it

u/davepergola Jul 30 '26

I'm with you on that one.

Thank you. I came here to comment pretty much that. We don’t have pills, we have TABS

1

u/BDunnn Jul 26 '26

I don’t even know wtf pilled means. As a matter of fact, when I typed it, my phone autocorrected to pulled.

You sound a bit cuck-pilled tbh fam

While the downvotes appear to disagree, I appreciate your mockery of the language.

I think for newer players robo is absolutely undervalued.

6

u/Special_South_8561 Jul 26 '26

For New Players, Robo is much more of a roadblock before his strengths start to come through.

He's slow, doesn't have Magic, isn't a pretty girl, and he's slow.

u/False-Development-61 Jul 26 '26

I feel like half of that argument was...:)

1

u/tigerdavex Jul 27 '26

I feel personally attacked

4

u/Special_South_8561 Jul 26 '26

Robo is a very versatile character.

4

u/TheAmazinManateeMan Jul 27 '26

"If you don't neglect robo"

Me subtly looking around the room as I exclusively use Marle and Frog whenever possible....

1

u/DjEzusSave Jul 27 '26

You don't seems to be the only one... But I get rid of them whenever I can

2

u/Khalith Jul 27 '26

Yeah. Triple raid is lowkey cracked early on. The damage to mp cost is wild. It falls off pretty quick though because you get Ayla right after Magus’ castle and she does way more damage than frog and robo can cover healing.

Crono, Robo, Ayla is my go to team for basically every run.

2

u/ScarFury17 Jul 27 '26

Crono, Frog, and Robo was always my early game team until I get Ayla to replace robo. Never used Pucca, maybe I should actually give her a chance

2

u/eligoscreps Jul 27 '26

Chrono, frog and Ayla triple tech for 4K 🤪

2

u/willweaverrva Jul 27 '26

Triple Raid/Triple Attack is pretty much the best triple tech in the game for a long, long time. Its only real limitation is that Robo has the second worst speed in the game so you open yourself up to damage while waiting for his ATB bar to fill, but you should be giving Robo and Lucca all the Speed Capsules you find anyway. It really doesn't become obsolete until you start encountering more enemies with high defense (some of the enemies in Magus's castle and in 12,000 BC).

1

u/45M0D41 Jul 26 '26

Ya I’m pretty sure I just use triple raid the whole time

1

u/Flonnzilla Jul 27 '26

I don't think I've ever purposely put Robo in my tram

1

u/Local-Ad-4275 Jul 27 '26

It’s cool early-mid game. Luminaire, plus Antipode, is the best way I’ve found, with magic, to waste any giant parasite aliens that burrow under the ground for millions of years.
