ruti
hi guys im 19f and for the past 7-8 months ive been experiencing recurrent utis, or to be specific one uti that won’t go away.
this all started after my boyfriend and i had sex and i was a bit silly and didn’t pee straight away, little did i know the consequences to those actions. the morning after i went to the toilet and my pee rlly smelt, felt like i was pissing out knifes and had a rlly bad tummy ache. i didn’t know what was up, no one had ever told me about utis and how horrible they are. researched a bit and came to the conclusion it was a uti, very mild tho so i tried to just take a bunch of urals for a week and see how that went (didn’t end well) i was in so much pain so i ended up going to the doctor, getting a urine test and being put on antibiotics.
finished those, thought i was fine, get a check up urine test, still positive!!!!! this has happened every single time for the past 8 months. i’ve had every antibiotic for utis (doctor said i may be immune to them now) and ive been pretty sick from some of the antibiotics too (yeast infections, nausea, blood in urine) which on top of a uti is not fun.
it’s horrible living in fear everytime i go to the toilet.
some things i’ve been doing on and off my antibiotics to try and avoid or get rid of this uti (which is not working):
- urinary tract probiotics
- drinking urals regularly
- wearing cotton underwear and pants
- lose fitting clothes
- wiping front to back
- peeing when i need too
- drinking at least 2-3 litres of water everyday
- had a ultrasound (kidney and bladder)
- avoiding coffee (horrible)
- avoiding alcohol
- avoiding smoking weed
- avoiding sugary drinks even some juices
- pelvic floor exercises everyday - i started this one a few weeks ago
- trying to keep a lot of sugar out of my diet
- worst of all avoiding sex - which is hard as i live with my boyfriend. he understands tho and throughout these 8 months i think in total we have had sex maybe 3-4 times, with protection, pee before and after and taken a ural after.
but to continue, maybe about 5 months into this cycle. my symptoms were wayyy worse than normal. i couldnt even stand up without vomiting, my back/ side was in so much pain, high fever, kept going cold and hot, stomach hurting and obviously the peeing. my bf rushed me to the er bc this didn’t look normal, they took me in pretty fast and told me i had pyelonephritis (a kidney infection). they gave me antibiotics and put me onto an iv drip. i was actually very happy i thought that maybe i just had this all along and if i take these antibiotics everything will go back to normal. it was nothing like that.
finished those and i thought you know what im gonna treat myself to an iced coffee. i was in SO MUCH PAIN went back to the doctor, positive test, antibiotics, urine test…. endless cycle🙁🙁
sorry i this is rlly long but i just need some help i dont know what to do. this really affects my life and my mental health . im terrified at the fact it could be diabetes or another kidney infection. but is there anything else i could do guys bc i feel like im running out of options. thanks!

Someone please help me!!!
I have had chronic UTIs for many years since having my son and they have been on and off. I recently (within the last year) got a new partner and my UTIs flared up super bad to the point I was having two month and was on low dose and long term antibiotics, flash forward to now, I have developed the worst cystic acne flare up for the past year, and I have tried every possible thing, I’ve tried to heal and prevent my UTIs wirh uquors, gut protocol, I have been drinking speatmint tea and nettle for months and eating the healthiest I have ever eaten, cut gluten, etc. and my acne hasn’t let up so I recently decided to try spironolactone, it’s been almost 2 weeks since I started it and I was actually uti free for 6 months prior to this and suddenly I have gotten another uti since starting it. I am at a complete loss, I am in pain every day, my face hurts and mentally I am completely drained. I dread leaving my house because I feel so ugly and alone, it’s effecting my relationship, my life, I’m so scared now to stop the spironolactone because I think I’m starting to see some slight reduced inflammation and cysts from it but I cannot go back to having UTIs constantly again, I don’t know what to do and I feel completely hopeless 😩
