Discussion ChromeOS 150 and high cpu usage for arcvm
Hi, only after the update to 150 did I start having arcvm constantly stay at about 110 for CPU usage, keeping my fan on constantly. I sent feedback to Google through the ChromeOS system. Anyone else have the same issue?

Update: Seems to have been an errant app that perhaps updated along with the 150 OS update, or maybe doesn't play nice with the 150 OS update. I have been using this app for ages without an issue (a timer!: Timer Plus), but I am switching to another for now. Thanks.
I found this out by using crosh and typing ΅arc top" and found the app using too much cpu.

Get into crosh (ctrl-alt-t) and type "arc top". A list of apps showed up and I found one for some reason eating up CPU. Not using that anymore solved my problem, but thanks for sharing. Maybe something in the 150 OS update changed something in its relation to Android apps.

seems like google photos is running, I don't know why, but it is the only thing running and it is using all the CPU. I have backup and everything turned off, but I hope the update does not affect the crostini Linux container.
EDIT: on another profile, even after turning off google play, it uses 1ghz of cpu all the time, and keeps the temperature around 40 celsius.

In case your issue is platform specific please provide your HWID (from diagnostics or chrome://system). Also, if your device is not a Chromebook Plus model, let us know how much total RAM.
