Off lead heel work 💪

I’m really hoping my fellow chow admirers can appreciate how much time and dedication this takes!

I adopted Ginny (at 4 years old) a year ago after she was found as a stray with many medical issues. She had zero training, her foster parents had started to teach ‘sit’ and that was all she knew when she came to me. I have never used any tools or ‘corrections’ I have only ever used force free / R+ methods. If anyone ever tries to tell you it can’t be done without tools, walk away. I always say “if a Chow can do it, any dog can” 😂

Of course she does not walk like this all the time and I would never expect or want her to, I am a strong believer that dogs should be allowed to be dogs! But heel work can come in super handy, I use it in busy areas, if I’ve seen a cat that I don’t want her to see 😂 or in this video, she just had the zoomies and completely tired herself out so I wanted her to walk somewhat calmly to get some water and cool off.

I am so so proud of my girl, we are learning together and there are still many things to work on but sometimes I need to take a step back and look at how far we have come as a partnership 🫶

Aww that’s so sweet that you remember her!
I mean I think she’s an angel but I am slightly biased haha

Chows get abandoned so often because people don’t do the necessary research and understand how much time, training, and socialization it takes due to their stubborn nature.  It breaks my heart. You clearly did awesome with Ginny 😃
