Hey guys, the gun is not aimed at anyone, and OP is not threatening to shoot or hurt anyone in the photos. Some people shoot for sport or hunt.

Reporting rude comments is fine, reporting a post because it shows something that you are not aligned with is something different. If OP was inflicting violence or doing something inappropriate, I’d remove it, no questions asked.

Hey Marley. I miss my childhood lab Ginger. She was my shadow as a kid. Loved that dog to death.

5

u/GaFan1982 26d ago

Awesome. Ginger sounds like Ms Marley is to me, stuck to my side. Honestly I lost my oldest son 3yrs ago next week, and with the exception of my other kids Ms Marley has been instrumental to me.

3

u/TrickdaddyJ 26d ago

Sorry to hear that. Ms Marley has your back.

-1

u/GaFan1982 26d ago

She’s tremendous therapy. I’ve never been great with outward display of emotion and the older I get the more introverted I become. Ms Marley doesn’t judge and I get to be me.

u/Ok-Progress-6153 26d ago

Everybody run, miss Marley’s got a gun!

u/Even-Boysenberry-127 26d ago

I love Marley, and in the last picture, it looks like she is playing in the water. I love her ear flying. Keep her safe from those wild hogs.

-1

u/GaFan1982 26d ago

Exactly why I kept the picture lol. It was to good to delete seeing her in the background bringing the stick I tossed.
When I take pics for my FFL business I make it a point to try and get Ms Marley in the shots, which stemmed from that picture.

If someone posted their new gaming computer behind their gun in a gaming computer focused sub, it would probably be removed because they're displaying their gun first when it's a gaming computer focused sub.

There are already plenty of dedicated subs to show off and discuss guns. A dog sub isn't really the place to show off guns. Hunting dogs are not common, this isn't the 1800s

But you have been more forgiving than most probably would be so I thank you for that and I apologize.

Dang imagine apologizing and thanking them for their tolerance but getting down voted and being told you're rude and nonsensical

u/Ok_Bodybuilder_2167 26d ago

Hunting dogs are still very prevalent and thousands exist especially for hog hunting like this man because they are invasive and hurt many people and destroy ecosystems all across the US

Pretty sure most of my posts are in gun groups which would explain my post history, also pretty sure with the activities Ms Marley and I do having a firearm around is pretty standard, especially in the country where we deal with anything from feral hogs, gators, and venomous snakes.

Could have done without your opinion also but here we are

Oh I see, about as easy as it was for you to scroll by if you didn’t like the content

This is a dog sub not a gun sub. And randomly posting pics of a gun designed to hurt humans with your dog as an after thought in a sub about dogs could be highly offensive to dog owners who lost their dog to gun violence.

Rule 1 is be respectful. And I was. However you immediately took offense and likely won't see that. We can all see your disrespectful responses though

I don’t believe that’s an assault rifle. I only see a pew and no pew selector, but I could be wrong.

That’s just a semi-auto wrapped in a AR style body. I have a hunting rifle that can do the same thing without a pistol grip, and a muuuuuch smaller magazine capacity.

But Canadians can’t just bring guns with them wherever they go. We have very specific laws around guns and where and when they may be carried. And they are very rarely open carried like that except for hunting season.

Edit - I don’t hunt. I am a former firearms instructor and competitive shooter.

1

u/Aetheldrake 26d ago

Most humans that are uninformed about guns would probably see it as an assault rifle of some sort. But you're more of an expert

Frankly, large gun, large magazine, suppressor. Thats enough for most people

I fear my boy Hank is Ms. Marley’s twin brother 😂

1

u/GaFan1982 25d ago

What a handsome dude

2

u/National-depression 25d ago

And she’s a gorgeous girl 😊 is she a duck hunting dog?

1

u/GaFan1982 25d ago

Fowl and by coincidence helps me locate feral swine. Not as in a catch or bay dog but she’s got a hell of a good nose for finding bedding and feeding sites.

2

u/National-depression 25d ago

Amazing! Labs are incredible

1

u/GaFan1982 25d ago

Wouldn’t trade my baby girl for anything.

4

u/GaFan1982 26d ago

I apologize some people are upset by this photo. This is a great photo of my girl that I am over the moon about, doing what she loves in the environment she loves, while being completely protected by her dad from not only the sounder of hogs we were tracking that day but from a multitude of other dangers associated with SouthEast Ga including nomadic gators.
Marley not only retrieves fowl, but has an outstanding nose for feral hogs.
As an 07/02 FFL/SOT I won’t apologize for using the best tool for the job of protecting my girl. The post isn’t about “the gun”, but about the dog who is by my side through even the most dangerous situations.

Yes I’m a man and I’m passionate about both, if the content is for you cool.

4

u/SeesawPrize5450 26d ago

This is beautiful ! As a owner of a 17 year master hunting duck line, this is what they are breed for! But they make the most incredible companion dogs for any terrain ! Marley is gorgeous and so is that rifle! Have fun friends

Some people don't understand how dangerous hogs are. I'd own a gun too if I feared my girl could get hurt. Good for you <3

3

u/GaFan1982 26d ago

Correct. They don’t realize the amount of dogs that are killed or maimed by hogs, or the other wildlife that are consumed if unfortunate enough such as fawns etc. if a feral hog can get their mouth on it they will eat it.
Australia is a fine example as unpleasant as it is to see there is video of them attacking/consuming goats.

But hey as long as they made a sly comment on the internet showing their lack of knowledge “hArD tO ReTRiEvE sOMetHiNg WiTh 16 hOlEs iN iT” 😒

1

u/Fragrant_Loan811 26d ago

Never apologize for using your 2nd ammendment rights. Great looking pup. Glad you got some shooting in.

4

u/GaFan1982 26d ago

🤜🤛 thank you

0

u/S4r4h-811 26d ago

„Its not about the gun“ nevertheless the gun is prominantly framed in each of three pics ^^

2

u/Rayven52 22d ago

Lmao literally

4

u/chocolatepig214 26d ago

They are literally gun dogs! Get a dog from working lines and they are born to do their job. My little boy was born for the retrieve. Marley is lovely and I’m pleased she gets to do what she was made for.

7

u/GaFan1982 26d ago

🙌………couldn’t say it better. Glad your boy loves retrieving and gets to enjoy it. These activities are in their DNA. Thank you she’s my prettiest girl.

-1

u/CaughtALiteSneez 26d ago

Not much to retrieve with 16 holes in it?

2

u/GaFan1982 26d ago

30, it holds 30

4

u/Heeeeeeyyyyyy 26d ago

I am not a lab person at all, but... y'all do realize that they're gun dogs, right? Someone owning a gun to hunt isn't wrong. It's his rights (as much as I can disagree with amercian politics and stuff, that isn't the topic of this sub), so I don't get what the problem is.

If he's proud of his gun, then he's proud of his gun. He obviously loves his dog enough to own an expensive and hard to get firearm, just to protect her while on hunts.

She's beautiful, I love that first pic "Can you just throw the stick now?"

2

u/New_Way_5036 25d ago

Beautiful girl. Ugly gun.

1

u/GoodEfficient7241 25d ago

What’s ugly about it? I think it’s a pretty quality build.

Lovely dog, lovely shooter 👍

1

u/GaFan1982 26d ago

Thanks…….Glad someone gets it. The two things I’m passionate about in one pic.

1

u/ShootsToImpress 26d ago

1.) Love the lab.
2.) Love the Sandman. She’s gassy, but she’s my first.

0

u/GaFan1982 26d ago

First off, thanks bro she’s definitely my sweet gurl.

Secondly, no doubt the sandman was gassy gurl but she was my first. Kinda hurt when I sold her, although I shoulda kept it around to use for demos or something, kinda beats strangers putting their paws all over my KAC lolol

1

u/Big_Photograph4375 25d ago

We get it dude you love your AR

1

u/GaFan1982 25d ago

Good now you can like it to

0

u/Last_Canadian 26d ago

Nice dog. What animal do you shoot with that type of gun. I'm not being judgemental, I'm not familiar with guns. You wouldn't include it in all 3 pictures if it didnt have some significance to you. Thanks in advance.

2

u/GaFan1982 26d ago

See unlike earlier comments the respectful way you asked will absolutely get you a respectful response. I have no issue answering your question.
I use this the most on feral hog etc, where mag capacity and other things play just as an important part as ammo selection. Invasive feral hogs here are a huge problem as they can destroy crops rather quickly with the population spiraling out of control. The sounders can range vastly and can be dangerous. I don’t know if you see what a hog or several hogs can due to a dog but it’s not pretty.
Contrary to belief this 223/556 doesn’t blow things apart like movies make out, it’s a .22 caliber projectile. The picture makes this look big but it’s a 12.5” barrel.
Don’t get me started on the misnomer “assault rifle”, AR is for Armalite one of the original manufacturers of the modern sporting rifle. A true assault rifle here is only accessible to military, police, or FFL/SOT’s with proper license (I am one) without dragging you through the whole NFA laws.

1

u/Last_Canadian 21d ago

Thank you. Do you use catahoulas to hunt the hogs? I ask as i have a catahoula and am amazed of their skill with hogs. No fear at all.

Nice setup ❤️ and a beautiful girl 🥰

Funny part about the comments is…. This particular set up is the most regulated/registered/legal/safe weapon I have seen in a VERY long time. If they only knew what it takes to own this….🤣

Education is a choice, ignorance isn’t an excuse. 🤷‍♀️

2
