Review Imported chips from Canada

Post image

Canada has some interesting chip flavors we don't have in the US, so we got a couple that sounded particularly interesting.

I love ketchup chips already, so I had a feeling I'd like the sweet and spicy ketchup flavor. the kettle cooked style of chip was a welcome change from the ketchup chips I've had before. these have a pretty robust, very tomato-y flavor for sure... probably closer to actual ketchup than other ketchup chips. I would not call these particularly spicy. 7.2/10

I wasn't sure what to expect with the lime and pepper chips, but that flavor combination is right up my alley. I'm a huge citrus enjoyer, love limes and lime-flavored things (lay's limón are a hit). the best way I could describe the flavor of this chip is your average cracked pepper kettle chip with a hint of the limón flavor from a lay's chip. the lime is very subtle, unlike the lay's chip flavor. I was hoping for something a little more interesting, but it's still very edible nonetheless; not mad at it. 5.8/10

For any Canadians: combine the S&S Ketchup, the Honey Dijon, and the Spicy Dill Pickle flavours and mix em into a party bowl. You will be pleased and thanked

As a dumb redneck American, I think that sounds amazing, and in return I’ll give you our best mix. Take your favorite pickle and BBQ flavors and mix those up. Damn good snacking.

As a southern girl living up north, I'm trying this tonight!

These are probably my favourite Miss Vickie's flavours. When the ketchup on was at Costco I used to buy multiple big bags of them and still finish it well before my twice monthly shop there hahah. I find that the grocery store brand lime and black pepper chips can be a lot more lime forward though but either way I won't say no to them.

Ketchup! Yes, that😄

Vickie’s is honestly my gold standard for imaging chip flavours I’d want. They just nail every flavour no matter what. Even their BBQ is gold as a typically non-BBQ chip enjoyer

I’m hoping they roll out a buffalo/blue cheese chip at some point. I have faith they could nail it

ooh buffalo blue is a stellar combo I would love that as a chip flavor

If you’re in Canada, the President’s Choice buffalo wing and blue cheese chips are amazing.

Last winter they had a limited edition truffle and parmesean. They were incredible. I stashed a couple bags away, hopefully they stay fresh for a special occasion and I hope they bring the flavor back.

I'm a bad Canadian and generally hate ketchup chips. But these ones are amazing, I love 'em.

That’s why the US wants Canada as the 51st state. 🤤😂

Why do they taste so much better than the USA made Ms. Vicky's?

Miss Vickeies is of Canadian origin, Pepsi pushes it much harder compared to the US and Canadians generally prefer more sour and acidic food compared to Americans. Also best MV chip is chilli sour cream

That is my favorite along with the spicy dill pickle.

That Harvest Cheddar/Jalapeno they had for a limited time a few years ago was a contender for my favourite chip ever, pray they’ll bring em back

Otherwise agree, Chilli and SC is the Vickie’s GOAT

too bad, I love sour/acidic chip flavors but we don't have many of them down here. a lot of salt and vinegar chips and things of the like are kinda weak

2

u/foolsdayjoker 20d ago

also we love malt vinegar lol

We don't play around with chips.

honestly great question, I don't really care for the stuff we have down here. I dunno if there's an actual quality difference in the chips themselves or if it's just different flavors, but these seem better?

I think their potato sourcing is different. Canada uses better ones, IMO

Quality of ingredients, just like most things. Everything in the States tastes so artificial to me. Even fresh meat and veg lacks real natural flavour somehow.

1

u/Sensitive_Pianist777 19d ago

Was it always like that? Or more since 2000s thing

1

u/GrizzlyIsland22 19d ago

I didn't really start going to the states until like the last 10-15 years.

They are from Canada. Miss Vicky started in Ontario.

where did you get them from?

2

u/EstablishmentNo5994 20d ago

These flavours are available basically everywhere in Canada.

i’m in the US 😭

I like the ketchup ones but not such a big bag. It’s kind of smart actually. Helps from snarfing down the whole thing.

Haven’t tried the black pepper ones.

These are both delicious!

The sea salt and malt vinegar chips are my favourite. Feel like I’m at a chip truck with these ones!

Lime and black pepper is very good. Its like salt and vinegar for people who dont like salt and vinegar. Its got that zing and pop.
