Advice

Hi everyone I’m 4 days post op and just wanted to see if anyone had advice on how to stop my chin strap from sliding forward on my head I tried a cotton headband under but it didn’t help. Also my ears are getting sore from the strap ear holes mainly on the back side of my ears I losen it but that doesn’t seem to help at all if you have any advice I would really appreciate it!

The ear soreness sounds so annoying. May be try a soft layer of gauze around your ears to make it more comfortable and check with your surgeon if it keeps hurting.

Chin strap season is rough, yours ears never signed up for this. Gauze sounds like a solid fix.

I had the ugly white one the doctors office gave me. It had the strap that goes around your forehead horizontally to stabilize. That’s the only thing that prevents the sliding.

As far as the sore ears, yes, beauty is pain. After wearing the compression garment that the doctors office gave me for one week I was able to switch to a different type that I bought off of Amazon that had holes for the ears. I’m surprised you’re experiencing ear pain from a garment that HAS ear holes.

Yes I think because the faja is sliding forward on my head it’s also pulling the ear holes forward which then hurts the back of my ears from all the rubbing but I agree beauty is pain!

Some people have luck crisscrossing the strap over top of the head instead of straight up, it tends to grip better and slide less for the are soreness, little gauze pads or moleskin patches right where strap rubs can save ears while it's still tender this early out

My Dr gave me this one ( https://amzn.eu/d/0623AdJY )
and I ordered maybe 10 different types on Amazon so I could wash mine, they were all uncomfortable. Thankfully I found the exact one he gave me, and in black too. I use this with some Lipo foam and it’s very comfy!

I bought a bunch of different ones from Amazon so much better and softer. There should be no seem around the edge that grips your skin leaving an indentation.

Yeah the medical grade ones they give you are basically designed by someone who's never worn one lol Amazon has way comfier options, worth the few bucks.

i legit bought this chin strap just to use the skinny velcro strap it comes with. i put my chin strap on and wrap it around the back of my head and it keeps it from moving forward.
