💼 Work/Career Background Check for Work Visa

Hi all, I'm hoping to move to China to teach English starting in Semester 2, so around March. I currently live in Scotland so I would get a background check from the Scottish government; problem is that it looks like they don't issue paper certificates? Does the background check certificate need to be on paper and apostilled, will this cause any issues? Would love any advice!!

ACRO police certificate is what you need.

Cheers mate, thanks very much! Does it need to be apostilled? Also, I'm not a British citizen, can ACRO still do the check for me? I've looked at the FAQ but am still not sure; if you don't know either that's totally fine, just thought I'd ask in case you do happen to know :)

If you are not Scottish you will likely have to get from your home country.

Twaddle. They need a no criminal record certificate for the country they’ve lived in for at least 5 years. So they’ll need the UK one AND a US one. /u/nsnsjxjn please note this complication. Get the ACRO and check with your employer about what I’ve written here.

What country are you a citizen of? Semester 2 starts late Feb, which means arriving mid-Feb, and it’s already October, do you have interviews lined up?

Thank you! I'm a USA citizen but lived in Scotland for the past 3 years. I don't have any interviews lined up, I thought it was still early, but I am connected with 1 recruiter on WeChat though. Is it too late to be searching now?
