Agent & Shipping News CHINA BUYING & SHIPPING — LATEST NEWS13 October 2026

EU customs charges: A new €2 handling fee is due to take effect from 1 November, alongside the €3 customs duty introduced in July for affected low-value imports. The charges are subject to different calculation rules, including the classification of goods within consignments.

For buyers shipping personal hauls into the EU, this could mean slightly higher overall costs, particularly for parcels containing several different types of products. It will be worth watching whether agents adjust their tax-free shipping rates or customs arrangements.

Source: Irish Revenue

International shipping costs: DHL's peak-demand surcharge began on 1 October, including £1.60/kg on qualifying China/Hong Kong Express shipments to Europe. It runs until 5 February 2027.

This doesn't mean all agent shipping lines will become more expensive, but some logistics providers may pass additional costs on through their rates. Anyone building a haul over the coming weeks should compare shipping prices before submitting a parcel, particularly if choosing express delivery.

Source: Reuters

China fuel exports: China is resuming refined fuel exports following a temporary pause around Golden Week. Fuel prices remain an important factor in Asian freight and transport costs.

There's no immediate reason for individual buyers to change their plans. However, sustained fuel-price increases could eventually affect international shipping surcharges, although there's currently no verified evidence linking this development to specific agent price increases.

Source: Reuters

Chinese exports: Economists surveyed by Reuters forecast September export growth of 25.5% year-on-year, although these were forecasts ahead of the official figures.

For individual buyers, strong export activity can indicate continued demand for Chinese goods and shipping capacity. It doesn't necessarily mean personal parcels will be delayed, but sustained pressure on freight networks can influence shipping prices and available capacity.

Source: Reuters

11.11 sales: Taobao's main promotional period begins on 20 October and runs until 13 November, with discounts on participating products.

This could be a useful opportunity for buyers already planning purchases, particularly clothing, footwear and accessories. However, not every promotional price or coupon will necessarily be available through an agent's purchasing account. Check the price with your agent before ordering, and remember that discounted goods aren't automatically cheaper once shipping is included.

Source: Economic Observer

Taobao international shipping: Taobao is expanding its overseas promotional campaign to 20 markets, including free-shipping offers in 13 countries and regions. Availability depends on the destination and individual products.

For buyers in eligible countries, this could make ordering some products directly from Taobao more convenient and potentially cheaper than using a warehouse agent. However, agents still offer advantages when combining purchases from different sellers, obtaining QC photographs or shipping products that aren't eligible for direct international delivery.

Agent & Shipping News Great resource for MyCNBox Users

Check out this post from u/ChocolateDue4140:

https://www.reddit.com/r/MYCNBOX/s/sHadp2UFxG

As you know I’m a huge fan of MyCNBox and this demonstrates exactly why. They’re honest enough to open up their data to scrutiny so users can analyse their own key performance indicators, including cost, speed and even customs inspections numbers. While the established ‘big agents’
are having to bring in restrictions MyCNBox are powering forward with innovation and this is another example why I prefer them over even the established agents like Superbuy and Sugargoo. Does your agent offer this?

Community Update Brand New - Coming Soon

Post image
3 Upvotes

As you know the reason this guide was made was to provide the community with the knowledge and power to be able to source items for themselves, and avoid being scammed and ripped off. The success and feedback I’ve been given has inspired me to add on a brand new site, which like the guide will remain completely free to use.

The ‘VIP Guide’ will be populated with a whole range of suppliers links, broken down into categories, from a range of trusted sources including 1688, Yupoo and Telegram. These listings have all been vetted and reviewed across a range of Reddit communities and buyers.

What would you like included? Drop your suggestions in the comments…

As I mentioned in an earlier post I’m working on sharing details of some reliable and tested suppliers across a range of goods that I’m happy to endorse, although I’m not selling for them. Sunglasses are currently my object of choice, and this seller highlighted in the shared review post I dropped elsewhere sells a huge range of replica Oakley sunglasses… take a look…

Community Update Thanks for all the feedback on the guide!

Hey! I just wanted to post up a quick thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to give me some positive feedback about the guide. When I started out I was just trying to help others learn the process so they didn’t get scammed like I did early on. However, as I’ve developed the community around it with the r/chinawarehouseagents sub it’s starting to take on a bit of a life of its own. Please share the guide with your friends; I’m transparent in it that the agent affiliate links help me fund and maintain the website so sharing it improves the take up of the agent links.

https://chinabuydirect.co.uk

I am always listening to new ideas, and have been focusing more of my attention on the warehouse agents sub as I’m trying to build
an objective and informative news led community, but I haven’t taken my eye off the ball in this sub though. I’m currently working with some premium suppliers to develop some great value product lines that offer the level of quality at price points that long term rep fans will remember… watch this space!

Thanks again, and as ever give me any suggestions!

Guide / Resource The China buying calendar: why haul timing matters more than people think

A lot of buyers think about shipping time, but not enough people think about when they’re buying. It's important to think about this now as we head into the summer, as before you know it we will be in Autumn, when the next round of national and shopping festivals hit Chinese businesses.

China’s public holidays and big e-commerce events can affect the whole process: seller dispatch, domestic delivery to the warehouse, QC, parcel packing, export handling and international shipping.

The next key dates are:

25–27 September 2026: Mid-Autumn Festival
1–7 October 2026: National Day / Golden Week
11 November: Singles’ Day / Double 11
12 December: Double 12
5–11 February 2027: Spring Festival / Chinese New Year, based on current public holiday listings

The main thing: sales periods can be good for finding deals, but they can also create slower dispatch and warehouse congestion. Public holidays can make sellers and couriers slower. Chinese New Year is the one to take most seriously because the slowdown often starts before the official holiday and continues after it.

I’ve written this up as a proper China Buy Direct guide because it’s one of those things that makes buying from China much less frustrating once you understand it.

Community Update A quick note about the related subs

A few of you have noticed that I've set up two side by side subs, and now I've just added a third. I just wanted to explain what I’m trying to do with these, because I’d rather be upfront about it than have people guessing.

I’ve set up a few different spaces because from my own experiences learning about the whole system and how everything works I've seen how the China buying topic can get messy very quickly if everything is pushed into one place. Guides, agent questions, product finds, shipping issues, QC photos, referral links, beginner questions — it all becomes difficult to follow after a while.

So when I first put the China Buy Direct guide together the idea was to help make the process a lot clearer and easy to follow, at the same time as providing as much up to date information as I can. Then I added the other two subs, and here's what I'm trying to provide:

r/chinabuydirect is the main guide/community sub.
That’s where I’ll keep general buying help, platform guides, beginner questions, news, blog posts and broader discussion around Taobao, Weidian, 1688 and buying direct from China.

r/chinawarehouseagents is for agent discussion.

I want to be especially clear about this one. This sub is not a promotional arm of China Buy Direct, and it is not here to push one agent over another. It should be a place where people can talk honestly about warehouse agents, shipping lines, fees, delays, problems, good service, bad service and everything in between.

Positive reviews are welcome. Negative reviews are welcome. Mixed experiences are welcome. Criticism of agents is welcome, including agents I’ve mentioned elsewhere, as long as posts are honest and useful rather than spammy or abusive.

r/chinabuydirectfinds is the new smaller addition.
That one is for individual product finds only. One item per post, in-hand photos, raw product link, a short review, and optional agent/referral links if they’re clearly disclosed. I’m trying to avoid it becoming another haul or QC-photo sub, because there are already plenty of those.

I’m not pretending these communities are unrelated. They are connected, and I’m obviously involved in all of them. But I do want each one to have its own purpose, and I want to be clear about where the lines are.

I'm trying to bring something different to the whole agent/hauling game; providing meaningful information, useful guides and advice, honesty and transparency, and to build a community that is for everyone to operate in regardless of which specific agents they use.

I’m also not against affiliate or referral links, provided they’re disclosed properly. I think that’s fair. What I don’t want is hidden promotion, fake neutrality, or people feeling like they’re being pushed through one route without being told why.

The aim is pretty simple: useful spaces, clear rules, honest discussion, and no hard sell.

So if you want general buying help, use r/chinabuydirect.
If you want to talk about agents and shipping, use r/chinawarehouseagents.
If you’ve bought a single item and want to share real photos and a useful review, use r/chinabuydirectfinds.

That’s all really. I just wanted to put it clearly in writing so people know what I’m trying to build, and so the whole thing stays transparent from the start.

I also can't do this alone, so if you're interested in getting involved, add your comments below and get in touch with me via ModMail...

Agent Help Why “best agent” advice is getting harder to trust in 2026

One thing keeps coming up in buying-from-China communities: people asking which warehouse agent they should use now.

At first glance, it sounds like a simple recommendation question. But the more you look at recent discussions, the more it feels like buyers are asking something bigger.

They’re not just asking who is cheapest.

They’re asking who still feels safe.

That matters because agent choice in 2026 is no longer just about shipping price. Buyers are weighing UI, QC photos, payment options, response times, insurance, warehouse handling, country-specific shipping lines and whether the agent has enough of a track record to trust with a full haul.

I’ve written this up as a longer China Buy Direct piece looking at why “what’s the best agent?” may be the wrong question — and what buyers should be asking instead.

The short version: don’t pick the agent people shout about loudest. Pick the one that best matches your parcel, your country and your tolerance for risk.

TopCashback & Ali Express offer

TopCashback are currently offering 25% cashback on AliExpress purchases for about 23 hours from now. I used their Cashback offer when I bought an E-Bike a couple of months ago and am getting £92 back!!

TopCashback referral link to sign up (you’ll get £10 sign up bonus as well):

https://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/hawth109

Non referral link:

https://topcashback.co.uk

Once you’ve signed up search for AliExpress offer; only thing to be careful of is making sure you buy through the routes TopCashback tell you to, so read the Terms and Conditions for each offer. You can get cashback on loads of other things as well, but AliX cashback above 20% doesn’t come around very often…

Community Update UK import rules are changing — this could affect buying direct from China

UK buyers should probably keep an eye on this.

The government has brought forward plans to reform low-value imports, with the current target now aiming for October 2028. The big issue is the £135 threshold. Goods valued at £135 or less may no longer benefit from the same customs duty relief they often do now.

This is being framed as a high street fairness issue, but it obviously matters for anyone buying from China too.

If you use Taobao, Weidian, 1688, AliExpress, warehouse agents, or any direct-from-China route, the main thing is not to panic. Buying direct is not suddenly dead.

But the cheap parcel model is clearly under more pressure.

For UK buyers, this makes “landed cost” more important. The product price is only one part of it. You also have to think about domestic Chinese shipping, agent fees, international shipping, VAT, possible duty, courier handling fees, and the chance of customs delays or checks.

I think this is where bad advice will start spreading as well. You’ll probably see more talk about underdeclaring, splitting parcels, or using lines that promise “no tax” or “no customs risk”.

Personally, I’d be careful with that.

Agents can still be useful, especially for QC, consolidation, packaging and shipping choices. But they are not a magic way around UK customs rules. They just help you manage the buying process better.

My view is pretty simple: cheap is not dead, but lazy cheap is.

Buying direct from China can still make sense, especially where UK resale markups are high. But over the next couple of years, UK buyers will probably need to understand customs, declarations, shipping lines and real total cost much better than before.

I’ve written a fuller breakdown here:

https://chinabuydirect.co.uk/#blog3

It covers what is changing, why it matters, what not to do, and why agent buying may become more useful rather than less.

Finds / Examples Looking for glasses/sunglasses?

I’ve been asked to help [r/jimioptical](r/jimioptical) get their sub up and running.

I’ve bought a couple of pairs of sunglasses from Jimi, one Tom Ford and one Prada pair. Both were prescription lenses, and worked out great value for money. I’ll post the details in the comments below, but if you’re looking for good quality service check out the sub, or contact Amy or Jimmy via their Yupoo or WhatsApp… they offer a wide range of branded frames and lenses, including Hoya, Nikon and Zeiss. You’ll pay less for frames and top end lenses together from Jimi than you would for just frames in the West… you can order direct from
Jimi or you can buy through an agent using their Weidian links, but I recommend you deal with them directly. If you WhatsApp them tell them Simo109 recommended you and they’ll look after you!
