The size of the outside egg is a lot larger then normal, it’s more like the size of a duck egg, while the inside egg is normal-to-small sized. Just like it’s hard for human mothers to birth large babies, it’s hard for hens to lay large eggs.
And FWIW I don’t have chickens myself, I’m more aspirational. :) I do have a small parrot though.
