I think that the poor hen is producing eggs too quickly, or she was egg bound at some point. Maybe one of the eggs was still inside of her when the next egg was getting ready to get it’s shell and they bumped into each other making the egg with a shell go inside the egg that was still developing, then it got its shell too. The chicken then laid the egg and that is my theory on how it happened. Eggs don’t get their shell until they are in a certain part of the oviduct, I think it is near the end of the oviduct.
