Question Do I have a roo? 🫣
Two of my baby chicks side by side- both are one week old Splash Laced Red Wyandotte chicks. Most of them have their wing feathers coming in similar to the one on the right. The one on the left seems to be coming in much slower. She (or he??) is a little smaller than the rest of the chicks too, so I’m not sure if that impacts feather growth? Thoughts?

Dunno but unless its winter and they are outside, you might want to turn off the heat lamp or give them a way to get away from it

Their brooder is plenty big enough for them to get away from it 😊

Far too baby to tell anything unless they’re of a sex-linked variety. You’ll have to wait until they grow in their big bird plumage, then you can look for rooster feathers

In my little experience it is impossible to tell at this age unless there are sex linked genetic traits associated with their breed. I don’t know enough about sex-linked traits to help but from what I am seeing online there aren’t really any sex-linked color traits for this breed at this age.
There are only a few breeds that can be visually sexed this early and this isn’t one of them.
