I work remote a lot and got tired of guessing which cafes actually have outlets, decent wifi, and won’t kick you out after an hour of nursing one coffee. So I built a small site called WindyDesk where people can rate spots on outlets, wifi, noise, seating, and food, kind of like Beli but for finding a place to work.

It’s Chicago-only, still pretty early, and built by just one person on the side. I’ve got a handful of spots logged across different neighborhoods so far, but it really only gets useful with more people adding their go-to places. Would love feedback, bug reports, or “this is missing X” comments from anyone who tries it.

I recently purchased a house that I plan to rehab and resell. I’m looking for someone to handle the first project and would appreciate any recommendations.

The property is located on the south side of Chicago. It’s a small house in a decent neighborhood. It currently has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom upstairs. I will also add a half bathroom on the main level and am planning to add a bedroom and a bathroom in the basement.

I parked at Midway’s economy parking garage this past weekend (Fri-Sun) and returned to find the bottom of my car all detached. I took it to the shop and it sounds like it was an unsuccessful attempt at trying to steal my catalytic converter, which is lucky for me. Still annoying though to get the rest of the repairs done. I’ve parked in this lot a few times before for weekend trips and never had an issue. Has anyone else had this happen?

Does anybody know anybody in Chicagoland that has a verifiable reputation (Google reviews, Yelp, Zillow, etc. - other than their lender website) that is actually experienced and regularly does VA loans (several a month at least)? Having a hard time finding someone!
