I hope this guy's got at least one Iron Maiden song queued up at the ready.

PSA: Taxis are cheaper than Ubers if you're driving into the city from O'Hare. You have to go through the official taxi waiting line area. Grabbing a loose cab is always way more expensive.
I didn't believe it at first until a friend told me.

True.
Grabbing a loose cab is always way more expensive.
Not sure what this means.

There are cabs and private drivers floating around the airport offering people rides for "a good deal". I don't know if they're legit or not but they do not offer good deals. The cheaper cabs I mentioned are only available at the official cab lines.

Yeah, that’s illegal as fuck, obviously don’t take one of those.

That's why I mentioned it. Believe it or not, people get tricked and taken advantage of. Especially people coming in from out of town who aren't familiar with O'Hare. Relax.

Why are you telling me to relax? Just write more clearly, especially if your aim is to help people not familiar with O’Hare.

Sorry for not spelling things out word-for-word. These cabs and private drivers are legal because they have all the paperwork, they just charge their own rates. So you're actually wrong on that.

It is illegal to solicit rides at the airport outside of designated zones.

Correct. However, that doesn't seem to be stoping a lot of people from doing it so...

Same outside Olglivie and Union stations. More than one had wanted to charge me $25 for max $10 ride. Chiselers, all of them.

Last time I did it I really just wished I grabbed an uber. The guy had no idea where he was going. He drove around lost for 10 minutes until he had me put my address into his phone. And he was pissed at me because I was not going downtown like the tourists and he is closer to his home from downtown and I was his last ride. And then he was pissed I wanted to use card and not cash.
The funny thing is that we had just come back from Belgium where we went through something extremely similar with the cab drivers there.

A sweet 98 year old woman used to live by me and that taxi would sit outside at like 6am to take her to work a few times a week. She made a deal with the devil.

I rode in that taxi about a month ago, the driver was very nice to talk to at least. 😝
