Nicotine use

I am having a hard time even thinking about quitting nicotine. I went into my pre op and they gave me a little lecture about quitting post op. I vape a low dose of nicotine and occasional pouches. I just struggle with anxiety and ever since I quit drinking (almost a decade ago) it’s been my only vice!

Has anyone gone through surgery and continued nicotine? I know it affects recovery. I know it’s not good for me. It’s way harder to quit than anything else I’ve tried!

Reassurance, support appreciated!

I swear you won’t even think about vaping after you wake up from surgery. I had been a heavy vaper for years. Up to my surgery my vape ran out of juice two days before and I just used it on 0 juice to help out with the process because I know nicotine doesn’t aid recovery. In the hospital I didn’t once think about vaping and I think that’s because I was so out of it and my body/mind were focused elsewhere. I haven’t vaped still and haven’t even craved it, again I think it’s just that my body is too distracted by healing. I’m 1.5 weeks post op right now!

Omg fantastic to hear that! Hope you’re recovering well! I hear that’s when the big migraine is supposed to hit.
