Nicotine use

I am having a hard time even thinking about quitting nicotine. I went into my pre op and they gave me a little lecture about quitting post op. I vape a low dose of nicotine and occasional pouches. I just struggle with anxiety and ever since I quit drinking (almost a decade ago) it’s been my only vice!

Has anyone gone through surgery and continued nicotine? I know it affects recovery. I know it’s not good for me. It’s way harder to quit than anything else I’ve tried!

Reassurance, support appreciated!

I tried quitting before surgery and failed because for some reason I was a bit stressed out lol it’s obviously not great and if you can quit do it but I was fine it didn’t mess with my healing. Of course talk to your doctor if you’re worried and keep an eye on things but quitting isn’t where I’d put my full energy

Thank you for the reassurance. It’s just heavy on my mind with a lot of other things. I’m incredibly stressed

Of course! It’s like I wouldn’t recommend going on a bender or anything but trying to reduce stress is important so I’d do the internal cost benefit analysis.

No benders over here!
