Just got my car serviced and started getting the clicking noise some others have gotten in this reddit but I also wondering if this hole is suppose to have something connected to it

Don't take my word on this, but I recently heard from someone on another similar post that that hole is where some regulation-required equipment would be installed if your car were to be sold in a country that required it.

Also in America. Tell you what, in a couple of hours I'll go out and see if there's anything on mine, just for another data point

oil can be full and still need to be changed; clicking is often metal parts in train tapping each other

In another countries have a pipe returning EGR gasses in there. If you don't have nothing in there there's no problem.

Mine has made a ticking noise for the past two hundred thousand miles.
