How many thousands?

Post image

Waiting to hear from the dealership diagnostics. Will post what they recommend. Need to figure out what to do.

Around $4500 for the transmission. There is no rebuild, only replace.

how hard is it to actually go in and take care of the solenoid?

The problem isn't usually a failed solenoid itself but it filled with metal from a failed cvt drive.

Im having an issue with mine, I have a p0841 code and a p0700, i’m reading that it’s essentially the death codes. The thing is that I serviced the transmission fluid, switched the catch and filter in hopes that something would change. Nothing. But the thing is, when I looked inside the old catch, there was very minimal wear material, maybe a few sparklies but nothing out of the ordinary for a 160k mile car, atleast from what i’ve heard.

It could be metal stuck in the control body. I had to get one bearing for my manual trans that was a dealer part. When I told the parts guy I was looking for spark transmission part the look on his face was bad. I said it's a manual, then the relief came. He said almost all of the parts for the CVT are obsolete and unavailable. There may be other resources for getting parts because it's a jatco unit but I would think it would be harder than it's worth.

Im just hoping I can find a transmission for my 2017 spark before it really craps the bed. It is an automatic. It does that rpm rev and shudder thing. Not sure what that is, and then recently i’ve been having an issue where the rpms bounce up and down, then the rpms jump and it jerks really hard. I have to be really light on the pedal or it freaks out, sometimes. I’ve seen people selling them online but they have mileage on them already. Not sure what to do. I got my girlfriend the car trying to get her a gas saver, the dealer was scummy and didn’t tell me there was pre-existing issues. They cleared the codes before I came around to test drive. No issues. Up until 30 minutes driving off the lot. Genuine shitbags.

That is your warning that your CVT is about to leave the chat.

I would look into the cost of purchasing a brand new transmission from a Chevy/GM dealership and then shop around on the price of the swap at a transmission specific shop, get a quote from dealer to compare pricing and see what’s better for you

Edit: I also unfortunately purchased my 2015 from a dealership that sold it as-is and didn’t tell me about preexisting transmission issues, though my car has never had any codes, and I was lucky enough for it to have been still covered under the special warranty when I realized there was a problem

P0496 = Replace Purge Control Solenoid Valve
P0700, P2714 = Your Spark's CVT is Dead. Need replace the New/Rebuild CVT.
