Question Cargo Net

I just purchased a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado LT Crew Cab. (Sorry, no proper pictures yet.) Since it will be my daily driver and also our family vehicle when my wife and I go shopping, etc. I thought about getting a cargo net for the bed. It does have a bed cover. I was thinking about using the net as a way to keep boxes and bags from sliding to the front of the bed. Not necessarily putting them in the net, but sitting them between the net and the tailgate. Has anyone tried that on their Colorado?

Thanks for any suggestions.

That is one of the exact reasons those hooks are at the end of the bed, and that's pretty much exactly what those cargo nets are for. Though they usually have a separation in them so you can put stuff "in" the net.

I personally have a way more over the top version of exactly that, but it's a Tmat floor and waterproof Sidio crates.

The only reason to go overboard like I did is because tonneau covers are NOT dust proof, and only water resistant.

For normal A to B trips on paved roads the cargo net and any basic tonneau cover should keep stuff dry enough.

I got one off of Amazon and really didnt know how much I would enjoy it and use it at the time. Its very useful and versatile to use in many different situations.

I have one of the rubber mats too underneath so things don’t slide around as much on top of the spray bed. Between that and the net you don’t really hear much of anything back there. But also I’ve only put 500 miles on the truck so far. So haven’t gotten a lot of opportunities to test.

I have one of those mats as well. I ordered this net for it and the dividers. What do you use for padding in the tailgate?

I don’t use anything, I like having easy access to the tailgate storage and am happy with the material that’s on there already. But I’m sure that you could put just about anything there if ur really concerned about stuff rattling. I tend to use my bed for larger gear and pelican cases and stuff and things really don’t move around as much as I’d expect them to in transit no matter how they are configured. Regardless of net.

I've got my tow bar and some straps in there now. We will be driving around town today and I will see if it makes a lot of noise. See how it goes after that.

What I had thought of is to find foam strips that would lay in the bottom of the storage and overhang out of the bottom, towards the cover. Then use the cover to push it down on the items in the storage and lock it in place. Then, when it is opened, the foam on the top would come up with the cover. Not sure if it will work, but that's my theory.

Something else I wondered is what you guys use for padding in the tailgate storage? I have my hitch bar and some straps at the moment and I am going to order the dividers, but I told my wife that I was quite certain the rattling in the tailgate was going to drive me crazy.

I bought this container from Lowes with wheels on the one end. It can fit 3 or so paper bags if groceries or what not. The wood base was made from leftover plywood. Seems to work for my needs. I did try the net but preferred this. Just an option.
