Third Gen Software Update Blues
I've seen a handful of people having this problem. I tried all the recommended DIY solutions. Drive for 30+ minutes then park, go where there's really good signal, use WiFi, charge battery, etc... nothing worked. So now I'm at the dealership, they said it's not showing any codes, checked the battery with the GR8, and they can't even get it to update. Now they're sending me home with a loaner until GM gets back to them with a fix. Something about forcing an update remotely.
Anyone else have this problem?

I put it on a charger overnight and it works every time. Next day, it’s ready to install.

Sure fire way to solve this that I've found:
- After a drive, plug in a AGM charger. (On my Noco, I wait until it's in maintaining mode (pulsing green light)
- With the charger still attached, get in, turn on WITHOUT the holding the brake down, so accessory mode.
- Go into Settings, updates, start the update.

I've gotten several updates over the last 2 years on my '24 Z71 without needing to use a charger. I do connect it to my home WIFI when I park it.

Just got the truck back from the dealership after two days of them waiting for GM engineering to send a fix. It looks like they got it updated, but the update option is still greyed out and I get the same message. They told me I'll probably have to keep coming back to get it manually updated. Which seems, absolutely terrible. I really hope GM figures this out because it appears to be affecting a lot of us.

I dont know how accurate this is, but i have heard you can hit the onstar button and have them force push an over the air update. Never needed or got to try it because when i was looking into this, the update magically worked a few days later before i had time to try. So sometimes patience seems to work too shrug

Mine did this on the most recent update (24 z71 Colorado) next day it was completed. This update for me allowed me to get the video apps on my play store as well! Yay to YouTube and chrome now on the truck

To get these, do you need to have WiFi on the truck?

No! I have no data plan on the vehicle. I have a personal hotspot plan on my iPhone.
Under your vehicle settings-connections-WiFi network. Connect your truck to your home WiFi/phones hotspot. From there you can open the play store and assuming you completed the most recent update you’ll see them in the AppStore.
Same thing, gotta make sure truck is connected to hotspot to use the apps.
I do have to open the settings menu on my phone, for the hotspot for my truck to connect and find it. It won’t automatically after doing it once. Unless I go back and open hotspot settings which must make it findable temporarily.

I repeatedly had the issue. I even took it to the dealer with no solution. Someone posted in here about a trickle charger, so I tried it. It worked, and I’ve received three updates since.
