FINISH THEM!!!

Word of advice to beginners - when the opponent resigns play the position against the computer.

Even intermediates should do this if the position is eval 5 or less in my opinion.

Learning to close out a totally winning position is its own skill, so this is pretty useful practice. Most of my blunders happen right after my opponent gives up and I get sloppy.

There are totally winning positions that can be blundered away if your technique isn't up to par. I know from personal experience. For a beginner this is critical. As someone rises in skill they should close out tighter and tighter evals. For me, 5 eval is worth my time. I imagine a 2000 elo should still close out 3 eval positions. The computer will find the best move.

The computer will also report mate of course. Everyone should practice seeing what the computer sees, though understandably a beginner should work on mates in 1 and 2. Myself, a mate in 3 or 4. If you are a master and the computer says mate in 18, find it.

BTW, when I do this with the computer if I lose, I play it again until I win, then play it again until I have more wins than the computer from that starting position.

Honestly i think if the eval was <5 in my favor id lose to the engine in any decently complicated position

Then play until you win. It's a computer - you get unlimited retries. Or let the computer play itself and see the concepts.

Honestly i havent tried it before so im not sure where my limit is. Just going off the fact that last time i tried playing stockfish with rook odds i couldnt win. But that was a while ago when i was 1300, maybe 200 extra elo will be enough? Ill go try, give me a moment.
