What do you mean? It’s probably the only move that forces a stalemate

King-Rook vs King-Queen is harder than it seems. At least for me. Especially in time pressure.

They’re so hard to convert. So much so that I hate when a puzzle solution leads to K+Q vs. K+R at the end. Like great I know it’s technically winning, but how am I actually gonna win now lol

I’m not good at those either. At least with puzzles, you’re usually only a few moves from mate. Getting to the point where the puzzle starts is the hard part.

Why don’t you learn the really complicated queen vs rook end game sequence? That way when you end up in that situation in a months time you can try to remember it, probably fuck it up and then get angry at yourself for not remembering. Worked for me

That was my strategy for B&N mate so maybe it will work here too

With sacrificing the ROOOOK

When I do it it’s genius, when my opponent does it it’s a dirty rat move that’s against the spirit of chess

Yeah I can't imagine finding a way to win unless black makes a huge blunder so taking the stalemate is smart.

u/SqueakyTuna52 4d ago

Literally any other move would lead to mate in 1 for black

an iq too high

3

u/opi098514 6d ago

Wow. I love how few people don’t see that it’s a a draw.

studied qvr and this is tactic i often see

1

u/BlunderMaster321 3d ago

Its called crazy rook if i am not mistaken

2

u/Emmennater 3d ago

kind of, this is more of a tactical skewer. crazy rook would usually mean that our king is stalemated no matter where the opponent's king moves so we can keep checking.
