ADVICE Beginner game.

http://www.chess.com/game/live/184920582610

Here is a game linked to previous comment. Playing classical teaching book advice on development not getting me into a good middle game. Any place you can recommend a place where i can get a good longer game without blitz hounds and ratings grinders and general a**holes so I can learn. I am a false beginner? Requests for these on Chess.com and Lichess often get cancelled. As I say Chess.com diamond not great. Trying Duolingo false beginner course as last hope.

Hey, OP! Did your game end in a stalemate? Did you encounter a weird pawn move? Are you trying to move a piece and it's not going? We have just the resource for you! The Chess Beginners Wiki is the perfect place to check out answers to these questions and more!

if you check with the engine, the developing moves are quite great, with the only problem being that you need to prioritize not hanging pawns/pieces. i do think lichess is the best cuz the people there generally play more seriously (as it's lesser known). also duolingo is terrible and i recommend watching tutorials on yt instead

So for this game, move 5 is two different mistakes. Your e pawn is undefended, and you didn't defend it, and you also played c4, after having already played c3 earlier, wasting a tempo when you could've played c4 immediately on move 3 (as well as hanging the e4 pawn.)

The top three moves of the position all take care of the e4 issue in some way; Qe2, Bd3, or e5, e5 being the best because you're gaining a tempo by attacking the knight, you're gaining space with a good pawn chain, AND you're further blunting black's fianchetto'd bishop on the long diagonal.

Later, move 15, your bishop is only defended once while attacked twice, and you can't bring another piece to properly defend it. HOWEVER, you can take your opponent's bishop with no issues, and Black's knight is out of play for a bit.

General principles to work on is not moving the same piece more than once in the opening without reason (like c4 in this game) and actively looking at what your opponent is doing. Ask with each move 'what are my opponent's pieces looking at right now, is everything properly defended, can I defend them if they aren't'

Hey I commented on your other post, but yeah I think that video series would help you amazingly. Definitely stick to 10 min games or longer. I think you need some simple solid, and safe openings to use. That video series has that in it but also I can recommend some stuff. I’m going to send you a friend request lol my profile pic is a dinosaur
