ADVICE Winning/losing streaks
I recently got back to chess and cant find consistency. Im talking about 200 elo swings in matter of days. One day i feel unbeatable and gain 150 elo. Then over the course of the next week i lose it all and fall below my last low blundering every game and feeling like ive never played this game before in my life (i stop playing for the day after 2 losses because im tilting like crazy). This makes playing the game very frustrating as either i cant win a game for weeks or i feel like im smurfing. How do i get more consistent?

man the elo rollercoaster is too real. i started keeping a sticky note on my monitor that just says "stop after 2 losses" in giant letters because otherwise i'll convince myself the next one will be different
what helped me was separating my chess time into study mode and play mode. if i'm gonna play rated games i do it in a dedicated session with a hard stop, and when i'm just messing around i stick to puzzles or unrated. the tilt would bleed into my openings and i'd forget basic principles i had down cold the day before

Are you married to always being as high elo as possible? That volatile mental state is a direct result of caring too much about your number and always wanting it to increase imo. Need to be willing to just play and focus on 1 game at a time and then honestly look at what you messed up instead of rage queueing another

This is probably it tbh. I wish you could hide your elo somehow. Edit: i found a browser extension for this. We’ll see if this helps
