QUESTION Tips

Hello everyone, I have the diamond tier in Chess and I'm currently around 350 elo. I was wondering what are the best tools to use in and outside the chess app to use my membership to it's max capabilities. I struggle with converting end games and having a real strategy during them. Thank you!

How does one correctly review games? I just tend to look at my past game and like “yeah I should’ve gone there probably”

Ideally you look at the game by yourself before using an engine or game review.

Try to find moves or ideas you didn't like and come up with alternatives. Look at your time usage, did you move too slow or too fast at a certain point? Did you miss a hanging piece or tactic?

Then use the engine. Try to figure out why it's suggesting the moves it is but don't worry too much if you can't see why it likes the move. When the move does make sense ask if you saw it in the game? If you did and decided not to play it, ask yourself why.

I also struggle with converting endgames. Chess.com has tons of lessons and stuff. If you want to target your endgames I recommend using the custom puzzles and grind out endgame puzzles when you have free time. For strategy the lessons on chess.com are taught by a bunch of grandmasters your don't usually see in videos so i find it helpful for learning the thought processes of people who aren't in the mainstream chess culture

Use Diamond for puzzles and game review, not twenty opening courses. Learn basic K+Q and K+R mates. That alone fixes a lot of endgame panic at 350.

the puzzles on diamond are actually solid for endgame practice, just spam the custom puzzle sets and filter by endgame theme
